Cuiosity got the best of me, and..... Holy crap, I got a pretty sweet spot IMO! Crazy how this stuff works, it's a spot I don't need to access to cout and I already know a bit about it. Used to watch deer in the field to the South all the time back in my high school days, easy access. Bad part about it is I cannot shoot into that field, have to stay within the red boundary. States it is 8 acres so not overly big. But best thing about it is it is not residential so should be a good hunting opportunity.
My brother and sister-in-law came over today. I took him to Lake Wappapello to look for driftwood for his craft hobby. I managed to catch 5 bass while we were looking and we brought home a boatload of driftwood. We had a somewhat unusual dinner: Fried bass fillets, fried rattlesnake, wild hog ribs, green beans fried with bacon and yeast rolls. Even had a strawberry icebox pie for dessert. Tomorrow I’m going to collect my climbers, do some scouting on the new place, put the climbers in place and start hunting Friday morning.
Parking is blue area, the buildings and such are a city owned lake services property so should be fairly inactive in late December.
Some of my best spots are half that size, you’ll do just fine there, you can booger it up in a hurry tho.
Surprisingly slow so far tonight. This is the best weather we’ve had this week and it’s supposed to storm tonight. Hopefully they start moving the last hour.
December winds should help somewhat, just a matter of whether it is a warm or cold second half, would rather have a northwest than southwest. Probably drive ny it this weekend see what's planted in the field if anything this year.
Also on this, if they truly allow all seasons on every property I could be the 6th amd final hunter to access it for the final 2 of a 12 week stretch. Could be mucked up before I ever have a chance to hunt it, especially if the previous hunters just throw caution to the wind as a 2 week throw away spot. Always a caveat
