Last week I had a 6pt show up that I never saw or heard. I just happened to look to my left, and at just 20yrds away was this buck eating some grass. He was as unaware of me as I was of him. Then he just continued on his way.

I'm out. I was watching a doe and 2 fawns to my right and just happened to look to my left and there at 80 yards was a buck. He must have seen them about the same time. He came in front of me at 20 yards. Unfortunately, he was only a basket 7 point. Had me pretty excited there for a little.

Can not wipe the smile from this face!
My nightly check of field finds an 8pt coming up from coop blind. It's darker but can see rack with naked eye. Then he moved rt side hard limp. I ran , ok hobbled fast, to house to get binos. He's parellel to me so I wasn't getting a full view of the rack . The buck I shot had distinctive brow tines different heights and one was a fish hook. I squeaked and he turned his head ,full frontal view. OMG it's the buck I shot! Still has a hard rt shoulder limp but not skinny feeding across the field!. :chewy::nana::thewave:

I'm happy for you, that must be a relief.

One year I hit one of the better bucks I've seen in my woods with a bad shoulder shot, a shot I shouldn't have taken. I wondered how he made out from it, and just a week later I got this pic of him on my cam. I could not believe he came back to the same exact location where I shot him. If you look close, you can see a blood stain on his shoulder. I was sooo happy to see he was okay!

Here's a cam pic of him a couple weeks before I encountered him while hunting. He had some real nice brows.

That's great news! Maybe you'll get a second chance at him.

I have to say I was pretty low today. The two lost deer this year , and I'll never figure out that doe loss, ever. Then getting this illness from hubby add to that the ladder fall and news of bad degenerative arthritis. BTW I got yet another call from the Docs office about, this afternoon. This is the least Ive hunted in decades.

Ending up being correct on my assessment of the shot is just such a relief.
I went over to bed chickens and put card back inthe cam. Fresh tracks walked just 3yrds in front of cam and another set came in from up by pines past the blind. So a afternoon hunt could have gotten me a deer. Surprisingly neither stopped to eat clover and track size in snow tells me cruising buck

I feel bad for you not getting out like you usually do, but you and your husband's health has to come first. The hunting will always be there.

Well I picked the right tree, just couldn’t keep the wind from blowing all over the place. Got winded from 3 different directions this evening. Got deer within range and of course the wind swirls. Plus side, did get to see a lot of deer. Probably 25 or so? One was a pretty decent buck that I wanted to see in person. Several small bucks harassing does too.

Seeing that many deer in one day is pretty amazing.

Had about a dozen turkeys and 2 does with no shot. Going to try a different stand tomorrow.
