Don't know, this morning just wiped me out and tuned up my hacking episodes. Too tired and actually noisy to go out. I went late 5pm to get mail and put birds to bed. Walked over. Then before doing turkey I checked field next to house. At the end of drive 5o yrds from drive blind is Sundays car hit buck. He's alive but must be hurting, for he stood in the same spot browsing alfalfa for a VERY LONG TIME. So I did see deer
In addition to Mitch’s thought, are you walking a long distance and/or do you have enough space in your boots? A loose boot sucks to walk in, but will allow more dead space around your feet to help insulate. This independent of material. A long walk could be building up some moisture, which would get cold once still. I’ve been also bringing a pad to put under my feet on cold days to help reduce conducted heat or air blowing under my feet, while in a stand. And have even considered something like these down booties, but then realized, you live in NC and it doesn’t really get >that< cold… https://featheredfriends.com/collec...boots/products/feathered-friends-down-booties
Insulated boot inserts work well. Carry em in your pack then put on at tree. I'd say they help by about 10 degrees.
Yes plenty of space. I also went back to leather insulated boots this year from years of wearing Muck, Lacrosse etc.
