No deer seen this evening. Probably the least productive November 8th ever!

Doe down, with the rifle so it wont count for the contest. But that felt good after nothing last year.

Congratulations Cant Ex on the doe!

2 little bucks chasing a few does around. Nothing came close.

Well nothing for me this evening. Wind was at 20mph for the last 45min. The temp is supposed to drop 20f tonight making it 30f in the AM but the wind is going to be 15mph increase to 22 by 10am so I might just sit for a couple of hrs. I’ll keep an eye on the weather tonight and see.

If you are up near where your family hunts, my buddy shot a nice tree this morning; the ten-point was just an observer

Sat 11 hours today and only saw a lone doe, with no buck on her tail. Prime time in the middle of the rut and I see a single doe for an all day sit?
But, the coolest part of my day was on my way to the woods around 4:45am, as I was driving through an industrial area. As I approached a traffic light that had turned yellow on me, I slowed and stopped for the red. On the right side of the road I see a lone doe standing there, and believe it or not that deer waited til that light turned green, then crossed the road to the other side. You can't make this stuff up! Honestly, I couldn't get over the timing of that deer crossing where and when it did!

I know it was just coincidence that light turning and the deer crossing at the exact right time, but what are the odds of actually observing that? What I really find amusing is the sign saying no pedestrians that she's standing next to after she crossed the street. :tu:

Nothing again for me tonight. This is the first deercation in 20+ years that I haven't at least taken out a doe. Next time out for me will be next weekend. Good luck guys! Keep grinding!

Anybody who can do 9 all day sits (in a row?) has my respect, big time! :hail:
When I was younger I did all day sits like it was nobodies business, but at 68 that situation has changed.

    Congrats on the doe Cantexian!

Agree with Jim. Figured there be more deer taken on this thread. I saw nothing else after getting busted by the doe. Sunday church and I took Monday off. Supposed to get snow and be cold Monday morning

October lull running a little behind?

I was just thinking today, IL first firearm season isn't for another 2 weeks. It's usually timed pretty well for rut activity, maybe this coming week.

I was reading through the 2017 LFTS thread last night. Used to get like 30-40 pages a day this time of year.

I was covered with deer from 430 till dark. 3 different bucks and multiple doe. They were coming from every direction. I shot a basket 6 at last light. After the shot he bolted off into the golden rod and briars. I went to look for the arrow and blood at impact but could find neither. Came home gave it a half hour and went back with the dog. Still no luck. Going to go back tomorrow to see if we can find the arrow and see if dog can pick up scent. Weather is not looking promising. My son, the dog and I covered a lot of ground tonight.
