Brought the decoy. 6pt came to 30 but wouldn’t crest the hill. Drew on him and he caught my movement.

You work your butt off to create opportunities. They are opportunities not guarantees. Stuff happens. This is what makes it rewarding and so special when it all comes together. Give yourself a break. No more negative self talk. Regroup and get back out there it’s November.

I just had 2 fawns come by at 15 yards. It seems week or two too early to be seeing fawns alone.

My Sunday selfie has to be at home with a coffee, since we can't hunt all Sundays (just three of them) in the State Park I hunt.
This is the only buck I'll see today.

Didn't get a good look at a nice buck behind me early this morning. 29* here with low and variable winds. Had a bb go by. A half hour later, a doe fawn went by. Saw a doe and bb - almost got a shot on her. She isn't much bigger than her bb.

Interrupted while typing this. A nice doe split between me and a stand 80 yards north of me. Wouldn't have gotten a shot out of either.
Saw 5 deer on my way in this morning 2...1....2....in 100 yards.

Sitting until 920 and then heading to church.

This is the day the LORD has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in in.

I just watched a great buck cross the grass field at the other end 80 yards away.

Stayed up to late watching a disappointing end to the World Series, and with time change I wasn’t goingto take the boys out on four hours sleep. Older boys have other things going on later today, but my youngest and I will head out between 9-10.

i think we will go sit a scrape for the midday hours unil around 2pm and go from there if he doesn’t shoot something at the scrape.

New 8 point hit the community scrape an hour after dark last night. He doesn't have much spread but he makes it up with his 2s snd 3s. Another target for this hobbled up ole cogger. ;)

So true! I've been watching this particular 8pt since August. I aready have roughly 100 hours on stand so far, and on Sat. Oct. 25th I finally had that buck at just 20yrds!
He was watching over a doe, but wouldn't come from behind some saplings. I watched him for about 20 mins, but never got the clean shot I wanted. The odds of me seeing him weren't good, the odds of me getting him in bow range were even worse, but those two things DID happen. Even when things seem like they're going to work out, sometimes a fly finds it's way into the ointment.

I was bummed out about not killing him, since he's the biggest buck I've ever seen in 40 years of hunting in Pa. But, you know what? I'm just happy that my set-up worked as planned, finally saw my target buck in person, and was able to watch him for a while. As far as I'm concerned I achieved my goal without actually killing him.
I have the next two weeks to possibly get another chance at him, that's the stuff that keeps me hunting!

I grunted. He stopped and then kept walking. I waited a minute or so and then rattled. Been watching since then.

I scrambled to find my call with a doe bleat but couldn’t find it in the heat of the moment.

The call that works best for me is to get his attention with a couple of tending grunts and then hit a soft doe bleat.
