To be honest, I'm not sure. It's a bad habit of mine: I'll see a buck and as soon as I decide to shoot I stop looking at the rack. I just know he looked familiar. He strongly resembled the one what walked in on me late last year when I didn't have a tag.
I suck at field judging in the moment, my two biggest bucks were way bigger than what I seen when I shot. My 2017 10 was the only one I felt I actually judged well, but I got to watch him walk from the scrape out in front of me so had forever to look at him. Hopefully he turns out bigger than you thought, 500+ acres and what seems like light pressure, there's big deer there regardless of being southern MO hill country.
Actually I think I'll sleep just fine. For some reason I'm not worried about this at all. It's really strange, but I know he's dead and I'll find him eventually.
