Big cold front moving through tomorrow. Getting yard/garden cleanup done today and will be at it hard in the next coming weeks. I won't have as many all day sits as I would like but I'll have a few for sure.

So much for plans. I went out to work garden and start installing cover on greenhouse coops lower wall. This is 4 layers, inside green house plastic over 1/4" hardware clothe that is a foot up wall, but extends 2ft out into ground. Above that is chainlink. The blk land scape material dbled covers the wire. Today I put heavy duty brown tarp over that. 4 layers anything would have to get through.
Well as I'm working I look up and there is a possum 2p.m. just boldly headed to the chickens. Hell you say! I run out of fencing to the pen and grab my trusty rake handle. This one tried playing dead....I wasn't playing and he went to visit his buddy from the other night. DANG I hate to do it they eat ticks!.
Just stick with the ticks and leave my chickens alone!!
Their old coop doesn't have an auto door like the new one will. I can't leave them out or their door open past dark. I won't mess up a stand by leaving early. What a waste of my appeasement meal

I’m out in a new spot
    53 degrees
    7 mph east winds.

it’s probably 8-10 years since I hunted in this general area.
MRI- most recent info. Bucks traveling through here to get to field. 300 yards away from field.
    Oaks and beech nut trees.

Finally up. No real aggressive sign in here like last off season but I see nicks on pines that seem tall. Heat wave slowed them down and Im hoping they starting moving hard and laying down sign.

I’m set up in a familiar spot. I was riding my bike up the ridge and the breeze hit me with a very strong rutting buck smell.

It wasn’t far from where I was going to hunt so I rode on and got set up.

    Up.

Saw a doe before I was even ready. Never got closer than 80 yards.

Trying for 2 does tonight...and maybe that older buck.

Hunting seasons seem to keep a timeline...thought of this today when I looked at myself in the mirror today.

"Now I look in the mirror and what do I see
A lone wolf there staring back at me
Long in the tooth but harmless as can be
Lord, I guess he's doin' alright"

No worries. Never a dull moment is an understatement, half naked mail men and a barage of possums...lol

I’ve been low key lately with stuff going on at work. I got my answer today and I’m currently unemployed. Not the way I wanted to go out but it’s done now. It almost feels like a relief though. I haven’t been able to eat, sleep or get out of bed the past 4 days due to anxiety. Got my walking papers at 3pm in the stand by 430 feeling damn good. Good luck out there BHOD.

Don't know how to mark that, so I'll say good luck and I'm sure the right job will be right around the corner. Preferably after you drop a monster.

Everything here is soaking wet. It’s difficult to hunt spots like this under these conditions.

Your hearing is pretty much useless and you have to stay alert. They can be within 5 yards and you might never know it if you’re attention is slacking.
