Did you hit him or uncertain?

Good luck on the track, hopefully some blood close by.

Took the crossbow out and I never would’ve taken a 40 yard shot with my compound…. The uncertainty is killing me… I’m waiting till nine and then I will look for my bolt. It rained the last four days here so it’s super quiet and I should be able to quietly look.

Seen your other post as I was trying to reply.

Sounds 50/50, either scenario could have led to his reaction

The sound and the reaction of a mule kick made me think I hit him. He ran straight and hooked back around and stopped. I just can’t tell what he did after that because of this line of trees.

Leaves falling I quiet woods sure make a lot of noise, lol. Heads in a swivel. Squirrels now active. Heard a soft grunt 20 mins before legal. Also had an owl attack something about 30 yds away just before day break. Now just need the deer to cooperate

He's out looking for a little less talk... and a lot more action! 1000014906.jpg There were 4 does north of me 60 yards. They worked to the west.

I had planned to hunt mid day today...until I checked the regs. It's youth hunt this weekend and archery is closed!! Oh well, guess I'll do some work. Hoping for the best Tony!

60 degrees and an east wind predicted for this afternoon. Hatching a plan to see a buck bigger than a spike.

Just had a doe and two fawns go through. That's it so far. C'mon Tony, we're rooting for you!

A few minutes ago a coyote trotted in to 35 yards. I squeaked at it and it came in to 15 yards.

I almost drew but I remembered where I’m hunting. A yote won’t slow my arrow down much and I would be trashing a broad head and the arrow also on the rocks.

I gave a soft whistle it looked up at me and I waved my arms. It took off like a scalded cat.

It will probably have nightmares about monsters in trees tonight.

Thanks! I was really questioning my shot in the moment but it worked out.

I was hunting in the middle of a 60 acre thicket and already had my stand hung cause I was in there the night before. I got to the woods at 5AM for the long walk back but realized I didn’t have my boots. So I drove home and got back to the woods at 7. I think it was better that happened cause I only bumped 1 deer on the walk in. I got set up at 830 and at 930 this guy appeared out of the brush. He walked right into my 30 yard opening and I let him have it. I herd him crash but was unsure cause of how thick it is in there. I was really unsure when another big buck appeared in the same spot as mine. I thought I missed or hit no man’s land. After a hour I got down and only found a clump of hair with some drops of blood. The arrow looked decent but it had some fat on it too. The blood trail was nonexistent so I went to where I saw the other buck standing. As I scanned the shrubs for blood, my buck was just laying right there. He maybe went 30 yards and piled up. I think since the hit was a little high that the blood was staying in the cavity. Definitely a hunt to remember. I’m glad I didn’t just give up the morning hunt when I forgot my boots

    Good luck @Tony

Semi-annual family fall photo shoot this morning, rain coming in this afternoon, church tomorrow and Trunk’n’Treat at church in the evening. Unlikely I will be out this weekend. I cannot wait until my kids are too old for this Halloween crap.

Next weekend is youth rifle. I may need to burn some sick leave this coming week.

Honestly the blood trail was almost nonexistent. I just went the where I last day him and he was piled up maybe 30 yards from where I shot him.
