I swear I have the worst luck of any hunter i know.

Nothing since pre dawn, decided to do a light rattle since I've got bucks sparring on all my cams pretty much every night/am, give the area a 360 scan, rattled the bag a bit, hang them up, take a quick drink of water, put the bottle in my pack, turn around and at 25yds there's a nice 3.5 8pt head on, staring right at me. He bounded off immediately.

Honestly sort of glad he didn't give me an opportunity because would been hard to pass and he's not quite what I'm here for but still. Don't like being caught with my pants down like that

Getting down, gonna take a nap and then refill our water tanks mid day, and swap camera batteries.

Will be in a different stand this PM.

As typing this, got Turkeys now at 50

...all hens. NOW I'm getting down

I'm pretty sure he was bedded down behind these pines, he must've ghosted in behind me in the dark/fog/rain after I came through

So I went out with turkey on my mind. Spooked deer and pretty sure the birds as well. I didnt stay long. The birds were over the hill below us...pretty sure I know why. My blue Slate have been gobbling up a storm and this morning he was on fire. These birds should be up here, out of competition alone, but definately curiosity. Since bow season started they have been sounding off from the same "area". Hhhmmm
To all that I grabbed the biggest sthil back pack and went for a walk past 11 stands and blinds then back to the house. Rains are coming in so my walks will be quiet. Will get afew done across street next week before the rut really ramps up.

Slept in after an exhausting week. The three main WMAs where I hunt are closed this weekend for a muzzleloader hunt. I was thinking about scouting and hunting a new a WMA this afternoon but we have heavy thunderstorms rolling in for the rest of daylight hours.

Just finished changing out the heating element in the hot water heater. The old ones looked fine so not sure what the problem was but pipes are warm now and I didn’t get electrocuted so I’ll take my chances and go hunting here pretty soon. Weather is not the best but what else is there to do. Good luck anyone getting out this evening. Tomorrow might be wash out here.
