One big doe came through about 10 minutes before dark. 15 or so in the field on my way out. They've been hitting that field and our storm water management pond pretty heavily every evening, if they keep that up till rifle starts.....

Ill do my best to be out there also, getting out of work a little after midnight. I'm sure if I get in it will be about 10 minutes before daylight.

I had to wait until I got home to update.

Good grief I stumbled into a deer honey hole with this spot.

I didn't see a thing until 15 minutes before last light. The first deer I saw were does walking the thick edge 40 yards to my south. I heard something behind me so I turned and a doe was topping the bluff 30 yards to my north. She walked by and I drew, but I just couldn't pull it off. The canopy was too thick and while I could see the pin and the deer I just couldn't put them together so I let down. Then I heard something to the east. I raised my binoculars and it was a buck I would definitely shoot (which doesn't really mean much). Then I heard crunching almost under me. I glanced down and a doe was 5 yards from my tree. She fed away and I could see her well so I drew again, but once again I couldn't put it together.

So, there was a group of does on the north side of the big opening, a group of does on the south side and at least one buck to the east. Then I heard something coming from the west. It was too dark to see what it was but it locked up within spitting distance and just stood there.

I texted Greg and said "Walk down here and hurry!" I probably had 10-12 deer within 50 yards and couldn't pull off a shot.

That was a really exciting sit even though I came home empty handed.

That was a first for me. Never before have I had deer come in from four different directions in the same sit.

I’m still astounded that I didn’t get picked off or winded.

1st time in a new set is always the best and most successful chance. I’m staying out of one of my sets until the time and wind is right. I’ve harvested my largest and 3rd largest from that sycamore tree.

    Dear God every season.
Perfect morning up showered getting dressed, "Oh I need your car and to follow me to repair shop, I'll bring you home." He's still in pj's and just getting a cup of coffee. " what's the look?! It's not even light to 7:20. To which I just take off hunt clothes and grab a cup of coffee. CLUELESS OCCATIONAL GUN HUNTER.
    No hunt this a.m.
