I’m at my little cabin up north. Sat the evening , not a deer in sight.
Had to redo the electric service that was destroyed by a tree and have an inspection set for tomorrow. He couldn’t give me a specific time, so I’ll sit in a tree until he gets here.
I’m just looking for an average size doe for the freezer.
    Good luck all!

Yep, it's that light and variable wind that messes things up.

Saw one doe tonight. Had the bow in hand for a few seconds but she didn't really even give me a chance to draw.

Will be in the stand tomorrow AM

I’m up and about to head out for the first hunt of this permit only hunt I’m doing this year. Have the area to hunt for three weeks, but can only hunt M-F until nine AM or after three PM. Area is loaded with deer and I hear there are some really good bucks. Goal for today is a doe and to do a whole bunch of scouting after that to get on one of these nice bucks! Good luck out there today guys!

All set up, drove around a little and saw a ton of deer crossing the road right where I am hunting. In fact heading right into where I’m set up now was this guy

Good luck everyone, I'm holding off for a cool down. I've been checking field and cams seeing only night movement. The alfalfa was abandoned after the 3 hard frosts. My cams caught just one small 8pt in day light, late morning. The doe really finished filling freezers so I'm working on using up pre made meals.

Question, do you guys weigh all your processed deer meat and the try to calulate $$$$ savings. We do not buy beef. The doe put 29#'s of very trimmed meat in our freezer. Less than I normally would have gotten due to the swarm of B52 bomber flies. No ribs no neck roast just main cuts taken. I put a low estimate per pound at say 4.00per pound. Steaks, stew and ground.

$600 in non resident tags puts my venison into waygu territory so I try not to think about it.

Woods are DEAD this AM. Nothing seen or heard since my walk in. Hardly any squirrels even.

This will be my last sit until Friday when I will be in WI. Gonna cat nap for another hour then go move a stand if nothing happens, then run home and pay it forward for a few days.

They went right by Greg at 25 yards but they stayed in thick cover. He had no shot.

I keep track and record the amount of meat we get from each deer. I'm to the point now of just paying for tags and ammo/broadheads etc so it does save quite a bit. We rarely buy beef if we have venison in the freezer.

No deer seen this morning. Had some turkey headed my way, which I would gladly take, but they busted me drawing back.
I’m making it a mission to kill one of those damn birds but it’s going to have to wait.
    Gotta work tomorrow
    Good luck out there!

You guys think this buck will make 130? Ill shoot him if he gives me a chance.

My hip has me confined to ground hunting this year and I need a west wind to hunt the scrape he is regular on.

    I’d say pretty close.
