Five days with new bow and I think it is time to stop shooting groups under 30 yards. I will be refletching an arrow. This was from 25 yards. I have been shooting several tight groups with the fletching touching, first time it knocked a fletch off. 1/4” lower and it would have Robin Hooded
We had a great time at the Full Draw Film tour last night. My boys and I walked out with some great prizes: my oldest walked out with a prize pack that jncluded an Onx membership and an Argali $50 gift card. I won a half dozen Victory arrows and my middle son, who is left-handed, won a left-handed Hamskea Epsilon drop away rest for his bow. I told him that rest cost more than his bow is worth.
Did something fun and unique yesterday with my local hunting buddies. We've had a group text of 14 of us the last few years to BS about everything hunting. A lot of the guys go to different states to hunt and this year we decided to do a "fantasy hunting league" (like fantasy football teams). 2 captains shot at a small apple first one to hit it got 1st pick in the draft. They each drafted 7 guys and now we have our teams for the year. Scoring is like the contest here but with a lot of extras (rifles/shotguns can be used where appropriate). After about 6 beers and after our teams were set I think the team has talked me into going back to ND opener on August 29th. Here’s the draft board with everyone’s hunts and possible tags for the year.
Cold shots at 40 this morning with the new bow. I am already morning excited going into this year than I was last year. It may be time to replace the insert on this target.
Set a stand in this corner of our bean field. She might be a top target on the first south wind around opener. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Monday was the last day of summer break for my kids. We went to a local range at a city park, my oldest is sighted in out to 40, middle son to 30, my 7–year old is making kill shots with the crossbow at 50. I have mine dialed in out to 60. This year, they added some 3d targets to the range. Standing bear at 40.
Well, y'all got this up early this year.....hope everyone is doing good in BH.com land. We have been in clean up mode here in E TN since the storm last year but the acorns are plentiful and the bears are crazy active.....hoping for a great season. Really hope I get to share pics of my first big bruin on this thread this October.
Water levels and flow are finally easing. I plan on visiting an island later this week. Look for tracks in the sand and not put a lot of pressure.
haha yeah about that long, hopefully I'll be around more this year. Got a little hectic around here last year at the start of season.... Gonna be a strange season here I think. Almost all the oaks that fell in the storm all leafed out and are chock full of acorns at ground level, not sure what kind of effect that's gonna have on movement until the rut. Hopefully the bears will be good and fat from them at least.
