Thanks for all the participation in this thread this off season. It pushed me to scout harder and learn some things from you guys. Here to us reaping the rewards.
2 yr old 6 pt, early, have to look at past pictures. We usually do not have hard horns till September.
Not quite scouting, but pictures from a hike in for a rescue yesterday. Ran into another bowhunter who was chasing a bachelor herd that had a big wide buck. Hiker was rescued and refused to go to the hospital after receiving some fluids and a horseback ride out. Definitely motivated to try and backcountry hunt next year Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Not scouting related but finally got my life time in mail and picked up 2 doe permits. One for camp and the other here. 2 more available for hear Nov. 1
I guess I could say I’m getting excited for the velvet hunt next weekend now. The one main deer I’m after is on cam and he seems to be coming from the neighbors corn through my property to get back to his bed early in the morning! Looks like he’s losing some velvet already. I had one small 8 pointer that looked hard horned already.
Its mid September. Scouting ain't done. This buck thought he could hide, but by the power of Holt I tracked him down in the swamp.
Cannot tell you, and all the other hard core scouters here, how much respect I have for the work you guys put in. I remember those days and I'm lucky enough now that isn't as much an uphill objective for me. Much respect. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
What a fun day. I even caught one bass and on the way out I got about 5 deer standing on a little point Drinking water right before dark. Look at the Sidewinder trails on the the sides of the steep hills next to the water.
*****†***Long post*****†*** Question****** First-. I went to ck camera yesterday and i kicked up a large buck in swampy area it's in-between several cornfields. I was driving my 4 wheeler around the swamp to get to my camera at 1200/noon when this large buck jumped up and bounded away all I saw was a chocolate hard horn rack àbout 20 inches wide and tall tines bounding away. I had to drive over a pipe that the creek drains through and into the swampy area to get to my camera area. Should I put a stand in there near his exit travel. Usually that place is filled with water but it's not this year. The first time I put camera in, I took the same path. Didn't Bust him out then. Farmer told me he was back there behind his silage. ThatS why I put camera in there. I hunted where my camera is last year along the one corn field. What would you do?
Oct October 03 Feeders markers are corn fields and the silage pit atv is the path i took roughly deer is the buck red line from the buck is roughly his escape path camera is the camera now and where ive hung my climber to hunt last year i know im answering my own question, im going to hang a stand in there but should i do it now or go in on the first day i can with the climber. hate to fumble around in the dark...???????????????
