Saw an 8 pointer behind the house this evening where I hunt. He was down in the field near the cows which is weird. Something I’ve never seen them do. This is the third time the last three weeks I’ve seen them down near the field with cows. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
The ridge I hunt behind the house gets littered with acorns every year. Right now they are feeding at edge of woods. Field hasn’t been mowed but it’s just weeds and clover. There’s an abundance of food all around the area. Very secluded and not a lot of hunting pressure. It really has me scratching my head because they use to be scared of the cows and they seem to be getting use to them. Two weeks ago I saw a deer I’m familiar with and a doe feeding right along with the cows. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
This is the deer I’m familiar with, he’s bigger this year from what I could tell. Still haven’t gotten him on camera but he was down in the field and feed to the other field across the road which is where I think he stays in the summer. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Tomorrow's scouting points of interest are in teal. Any suggestions considering the land is pretty flat with quite a few creeks....thanks ladies gents we are getting close. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Only the modes you get on onxhunt app...any suggestions on websites that has the latest and greatest so I can see the most recent run down trails? Thanks for any input. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Illinois scout was a a success, depending how you look at it. Covered a lot of ground and ruled out some places I hadn’t been before. Good news is the spot I thought would look good, was.
Put out two more cams behind the house along with the cell cam that’s already back there’s Gave the cows some damn salt so they will hopefully stay out of the woods. Would fence in the woods but it would just cost way too much. On the bright side, I’m seeing more and more deer lower off the ridge than usual and closer to the field. Idk what’s up with that but hopefully it stays that way. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Checked cameras today. This is an 80 acre ag/hardwoods property. It’s riddled with doe and young bucks. Habitat is not that great where I have permission, so having a crack at at a mature buck will be late October 29-nov 2nd or November 10thish- thanksgivingish, gun pressure pending
Went to the neighbors for beers last night. His house sets on top of a big hill that over looks huge hay fields. We stood there, drinking beer, and drooled through the spotting scope at a super heavy 150” buck. I’d been chasing him for the three previous years and had him at 42 yards in 2018 but no shot. Now I don’t have permission on the property behind my house, but it’s fun to root my neighbor on!
So son came for a visit this a.m. Said he spotted, less than a mile away in a small "valley" up over the hill from us a main frame 12 with 2 drop tines in a group of 4 other buck. He doesn't believe the bucks in my pics were any of them. So another bachalor group moving. The huge buck hubby and I have been watching , one is a wide 12 but no drops. 3 yrs ago I had a crazy wide 12 with long drops on either side less than 60 yrds away but he turned in the wrong direction never to be seen again. I wonder if its an off spring. Lol just watch I won't get a buck even close this year, or I'll shoot one just to have a monster stand under me with only doe tags in hand...
Some cute ones passing through this morning, that 8 has some potential if he can survive the season. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
