I find myself standing more and more. I'll go by 2 to 3 hrs without sitting down. Driving long distances and then sitting in the freezing cold is a disaster for a persons back.
I stand most of the time as well. I have to make sure I have good cover though. It has gotten harder over the years, so I have to take small breaks to sit for a bit. The seat on my assault 2 sucks, but it does give my knees and hips a needed rest. I've heard the arguments about always sitting, smaller profile, less movement, etc., but I've always felt more comfy standing and shooting. Almost forgot...I finally got my seed order for fall planting done! They were out last I checked, but it is done. I don't have huge areas, so I only ordered 3 (not 5) pounds of Brassica mix for about half-acre coverage. I just recently settled on where the plots are going and it's my first attempt at fall planting. Due to a ton of scouting and the way this property lays out, I am curious as to how this will define the movement of these deer differently. I don't really have any good bucks on camera this year, so I'm hoping to attract some better deer during the rut and late season. The neighbor's Ag crop that was the destination for a ton of the deer last year was not planted this year (it is bare) and I expect patterns to be completely different on the property this year. I still need to get up to scout some more on the new property I got permission on, but it is a little more than an hour off. I have no clue what they planted this year up there. It's about to get interesting!
Where did you order from? I have to get mine in today. it's a brassica mix of PT, radish, rape and one other 2.90 a pound and about 8 in shipping for 10-15 #'s.
Thanks ! Sorry about last sentence Oh man! this storm is a doozy . Inside house is completely dark at 2 pm this may do some damage.
I got 3 more cameras I am ready to put out but we got poured on today and didn't want to get drenched. Hopefully get them out either tomorrow or the day after.
Found a cool map on the arcgis sight that shows better detail of the maps I posted yesterday. I may put a camera on the saddle with benches if they’re is any sort of trial up there. May not be anything, but it looks neat
Here we go, currently scouting/checking: can’t ell the buck, but he’s looks decent so far. Found a new entry point into beans with hair and poop.
This split tree may be preset tree 1. Covers the pond and field access with funnel. Keeps me high and decent cover.
Does and fawns and 1 smaller buck on camera. Not all bad, I may have identified a consistent doe path. This spot has a lot of rubs and old scrapes, it just may not be the hot spot yet.
Tracks all around pond, two prominent spots but look mostly like doe/dawn tracks. maybe an early season spot?
It’s hot fellas, last cam apparently has dead batteries, damn wild game innovation cameras suck. They showed full when I put them up. Oh well, going to hang some sticks and hit the pool.
