Had a doe bed down 40yrds from my stand around 1:05PM. She got up at 2:20PM and gave me a 25yrd broadside shot. I thought she was worth more as bait, so she lives another day. That was it for the day. Slow start, and that wind didn't help! Tomorrow is another day though.

got skunked this morning then decided to go move a stand location. it was a lot of work to move a stand 60 yds but having 8-10 trails intersecting in one spot on the edge of a clearcut could be worth it. I didn't know all of those trails were there when all the briars and weeds were standing. now i'll let it wash out before I hunt it.

Less than a week and I'll be whining and complaining again

Cannot wait, hoping sitting out October keeps me energized for the 10 day dark to dark plan.

Well dad just told me that, my season is over already. Freezer is completely full, and we don't need to shoot deer we don't need. I'll still be following on here, and good luck to everyone!

You can always hunt for the needy and elderly to keep in the woods. Lots of stomachs out there that would appreciate the gesture.

What state are u in? Missouri has a "share the harvest" plan. Take your deer to a participating processor and the meat goes to help feed the needy. Good program!

We had a pretty good night.Three does came out into the beans about an hour before light and slowly fed our way but only got to about 70 yard before dark. Also saw a 140 class 8 point at about 350 yards, and about 20 mins before dark had a little 5 point follow two does into the field,he watched them for about 5 mins then proceeded to chase them around the field and then into the woods.

Might go back to the same stand in the morning.

I hunt in Ohio, and I think there is some of those programs here. I asked him about it and he said that he doesn't want to shoot all the deer off of our property either, because it already gets a lot of pressure and a good amount of deer killed each year. I might start looking into some public land to hunt and donate, thanks for the idea.

I absolutely abuse this program! $7 a tag, who wouldn't do this.

Yep. I have more does on the property I hunt than I could ever shoot! I like donating to the program. I get to have fun and help the local food banks! Win/win!!!!!

Dude try public land in coshocton there's deer everywhere in there, if you do find a food bank program id totally try coshocton out. The more you learn this season the better you'll be for next season too
