I'm sitting up a tree in NE Texas. I'm watching a oak tree grove that is dropping acorns like galore. The squirrels love them I can tell. The temp still sucks here.

Well I am playing the waiting game. I gut shot a doe about an hour ago. Fortunately, she bedded in range and I got a second shot into her. That looked like lungs. She laid down her head after shot two and I thpught she was done. Waited about 10
Minutes and climbed down. Gdt five steps from and up she pops. Runs about 20 yards over the hill. I marked the first blood and backed out. It has been about 30 since I backed out. There is a river at the bottom of the hill so hopefully she will be dead down there somewhere if not on the side of it.

Well sadly to report I missed a 130" buck at last light. Not a monster by any means but a buck none the less. That's why it's called hunting and not killing. The bright side is I saw deer during daylight hours.

There is no doubt that hunting with your children can be the greatest hunts ever but they can also be very trying. I give up most of my season to give them every opportunity I can to be successful. They have been very good at getting the job done and have killed some good stuff considering they are 15 and 13 but DAMN this year is killing me. Justin messed up twice on good bears and during this youth deer hunt my daughter missed a 125ish 10 pointer that I set her up to kill and my son got caught off guard by to mature bucks. Neither were giants but damn good deer. I know missing happens , hell I have done it plenty myself, just wish it wasn't all at once. Going back out in the morning hopefuls they can get rid of the black cloud.

Well the weather is pretty good but the deer are still running at odd hours. The pics on my camera have the hair on my arms standing up though!! ImageUploadedByBowhunting.com Forums1477193236.568564.jpg
