Had a really good sit tonight. Had a couple doe racing each other in front of me back and forth at a dead sprint and then two small bucks showed up and did a little bit of sparring. All around beautiful night.
Listen for coyotes in the night and watch for hawks circling in the day, they will usually give away the place of the doe
yep, and that is where she was headed...downhhill. I walked the creek for awhile. Ill start down there tomorrow.
One lungers are rough. I've heard stories of Bucks getting one lunged and were then seen in fields chasing hot does.....one track minds. Does are tough too. You know the game, don't dwell if you don't find her. Sounds like you've made a good effort.
Good luck - arrow looks like everything you want. Looked like a beautiful morning to get out - wish i could have! Setting up 2 ground blinds this weekend to hunt in the upcoming weeks.
Blood isn't dark enough to be a liver hit. Brett said it was a steep angle. And that he had fat and white hair. This is what I think he has. Here is the shot the way I see it: If you open this deer up he catches the near lung. And is well below the far lung and comes out the bottom which would explain the fat and white hair . Single lung all the way I believe.
I agree completely. 1 lung for sure. Brett it happens man. We have all been there or will be there at some point in our hunting career. As long as you exhaust every resource you can, which you have or will do no doubt, then you have given the deer every ounce of respect that you can give it. If every shot was perfect and easy then hunting wouldn't be as much fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thats way I asked if there was bubbles, and I agree on what you posted. I shot a doe this year and arrow looked just like that. Great blood trail but then just stopped. The only way I found her is because the next morning my neighbor called and said my doe is dead in his driveway. It was a full on liver hit, and she went 100 yards after last blood. I hope Brett finds her so we all can learn from it.
Finally got power back yesterday, Hurricane matthew hit us pretty hard in NC, but I was able to make it out last night for an awesome sit, right at last light I had 6 does come in and missed a big one shot right under her with the crossbow, heading back out this evening! good luck everyone
Shock, I've had this exact scenario happen to me. Blood was amazing for couple hundred yards. Then went to near nothing. After 4 miles we lost the trail. We were down to following hoof prints.
Sitting at the bottom of some trees on the edge of a fresh cut bean field. Did this last year and saw the most deer I'd ever seen in one sit.
