Well out for the first time in a few weeks. Late season here in il. Hoping gun hunters bump them deer for me today. Snow is hard and crunch was hard to be silent on way in. What a nice morning feels like 21 degrees. good luck this am guys
Well Okie, its like this, i was done hunting at home ran out of time and had to work season still open but lost my enthusiasm. We was comin down to Mississippi to wer some of my wifes family live and the brother inlaw farms 800-1000 or so acrers in noxubie county and ive always wanted to hunt. But due to the fact im not a skilled bow hunter and its rifle season we took the Ruger. Now another challenge, In KY ive never needed to shoot ive 100yd shot with a gun plents of woods and thats wer u see deer, down here in MS is different if u get a 100yd shot your like lucky, so im in a field on the end of a big finger tree line.My cheep range finder wouldn even tell me the distance to the tree line in front of me or beside me and im spose to shoot a deer out here and im not very good with a rifle.. so morning hunt.. front came thru here 30degreeze perfect morning and deer steps out 211yards easy shot right Not me cant do it never shot my gun that far and didn feel comfortable y i dnt no so i let the deer walk feeling really sick i got out and went and shot my gun at longer ranges so i felt comfortable.. evening hunt perfect still cool temp gettn lower and and the only thing i seen was does and they wer so far i couldn range them and they wer up tight and then a lil guy spikey was chasen so i thought , hey if spike chasen big guy may b around, well does left spike jus hung around and all a sudden he started lookin into the woods like something comin out and after bout 5 min the guy stepped out headed to wer the does went into the woods. Problem? Couldn get a Range to far away gettin darker and at that distance they jus a spec with naked eye so i began grunt calling and he would stop and look but never jus come easy so i got more and more egressive and snort weezd and finally i bleat called and he startd commin my way bit if i didn keep bleatin he wouldn come so i pry beated him to 175 maybe? From almost if i wer to guess 400yrds or bettr and i pul the trigger on him. Now the best part. It was dark neough and far away enough i jus new he was decent and when i got down he was WAY WAY bigger then i thought.
I disagree...love the story. Seems like he's right there telling it to me. Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

Well me and the wife unit went out this evening. She shot her first deer tonight, a 6 pointer gave her a shot. She didn't get a pass through , I believe it hit a rib on the way out. We found the half of the arrow that broke off and I'll admit I probably would have never found it had it not been for the nocturnal. Had decent blood with bubbles, but it started going cold when he turned up hill plus it was pretty dark out. Had to use the divers rules, when you have 2 flashlights and you run one out you have to use the other to get home. I'm pretty sure that he's dead real close , but we'll just head out first thing in the AM. But that hill........Oh man I hate that hill.
Good luck in the morning. I had to leave my buck overnight this year. It is not a fun feeling. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
