15 degrees here in Southwest Michigan. Stayed warm but saw no deer Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I believe this was the best hunt of the year for me tonight, so far. We had about 2-3" of snow last night with falling temps. It was about -4 when we got up this morning, it was 9 not long after I got set down in the stand at 3 o'clock. It got busy at 4:45, starting out with 5 does/fawns. Once the does/fawns made it to the corn & beans the does really started paying attention to the timber off to the NW of me. At 4:55 the bucks started coming out. First was a nice up and coming 8 followed by an "almost" shooter. The next 4-5 bucks were all 4, 6, or 8 basket racks. This group of bucks played tag with these does for about 10 minutes. They bothered the does to the point that they all left. The bucks all went to the corn/beans. At 5:15 4 does came from the west off of the neighbors place going to the corn/beans. The bucks didn't bother these does at all. At 5:20 the final 6pt basket rack came up from the bottoms headed for the food. All-in-all. Real good evening!!
7 degrees when I got back to the truck. Had 6 pointer stay out of range, a spike in range and 2 more somethings at dark.
I saw about 20 does tonight. My heater body suit made it bearable. The truck said -6 when we got back to it. Windchill was around-15. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mid-Michigan here, about 12 degrees, but stayed warmer with a lot of movement. Seen about 20 deer too, all does and yearlings with one little buck. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
heading out on the snow shoes to do some scouting this afternoon where I found a giant shed last year. no one shot him this season so maybe he will be back there for winter again?
Cool! I can't wait to start looking for sheds, finding new spots and scouting. That to me is the next best thing to the actual hunting. One time I found a pretty nice roughly 60" side in a bedding area. I found the same side but a year later less than 100 feet from the previous year. It's funny how they can be homebodies. It's a bit early yet for me to look for sheds, but it's a good time to look for roadkills and scout before the waves of shed hunters hit the woods. Sent from a piece of paper, tied to a rock.
I was itching to go this evening but the wind just didn't cooperate. SSW isn't a good wind. Good Luck everyone!!!
I didn't find what I was hoping for on my scouting mission. seen tracks all over but couldn't find a definite feeding area. looks like they are free ranging on brush and hemlock. going to keep looking until I find feeding in other locations. I'm going to check some standing corn tomorrow then a ridge full of acorns after that. love the second season when I can be directly on feed.
5B I was oringinally planning on maybe heading to my grandparents cabin in 4B but I only have doe tags left and they are for 5B Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cleab miss at 30 yards. Shot wasnt as open as i thoight hit a tree. 10 mins after shooting hoirs so it waa dark Sent from my LGL44VL using Tapatalk
That does suck but it is better than a crippled deer. I mean if it would've deflected and hit where you weren't aiming.
I'm headed out in the morning, I wanted to go on Friday, on my birthday, but it's kinda funny when people say, "Do whatever makes you happy" , but " here's what we are doing" lol ohh well, maybe I will have cousin Eddie walk out in front of me in the morning.
Little less than 2 weeks to get one more deer this year here in Michigan! Bow season till Jan 1st. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
