I think my subconscience has decided I am done. Hoped for a last second Cowboy loss so watched the final drive. Alarm went off and I layed there awake and finally just went back to sleep. No real motivation anymore
FP, sorry for your loss but glad she's in a better place. Wow, 96 years is a lot of living. Ohhh the changes she must have saw from her early days to where we are now.
Sorry for your loss foodplot, nothing for me this morning it was nice being out with the bow again relaxing sit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
NO doubt brad!! Grandpa, her husband, was in the WWII and fought in the infantry as part of the Big Red One. Never would talk much about it but though. He passed away almost 25 years ago. They have definitely seen many changes in this world.
Quick Update. I posted on Halloween about a buck I had shot and was looking for advice. Well as some of you may remember unfortunately I didn't recover it. Fast forward to Nov. 17th while my brother and I were doing fence work and sure enough there he lay about a mile from where I shot him. In completely the opposite direction he had headed. I put my buck tag on him and am in the process of doing a euro mount. I'm fortunate to know what became of him and recover at least some part of him but still bothered by the fact he didn't perish quickly. I've learned a few lessons on things I can do differently to avoid this in the future so I guess that's the best I can do now. Thanks again for all the input earlier and good luck with the rest of your seasons. Here's a couple pics.
Condolences. We will be celebrating my grandma's 100th birthday on the 17th; amazing to think what they have seen.
I'm real glad you finally found your buck! Congrats. Closure means a lot. I'd buy a cape from the taxi and get a shoulder mount done on that one. jmo
Just got settled in, back in the stand overlooking the marsh haven't been here in probably a month, actually I think I got a sign from the good lord to hunt here today, I had given up on this spot and came out here mid day to pull the stand to go set up a double for the girlfriend and I on Sunday, got out here and forgot that this stand was locked in and I didn't have the key but I had pruners so I tried to cut through the lock as I was sitting there trying to cut I hear something out in the marsh, and it was about 30 yards away sure enough a deer!! So hoping that was my sign to hunt here tonight!!! And also someone forgot to tell Mother Nature it's December, it's 60 degrees Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's a nice buck. Glad you finally found him. I'm happy the weekend is finally here. Nobody has set foot on our lease since Sunday. I had to bust about 13 out of the field last weekend and I'm hoping most of them are comfortable enough to come back out. This is the last weekend for this particular area and with the number of big doe I saw, I won't hesitate to let an arrow fly. There's another week after this in a unit that is close by, but we'd have to hope for some blind luck on state land that we haven't scouted.
Forgot to mention, my buddy had a 4 point chasing does in the field beside his house last night, very confused about the rut down here no idea when it is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well settled in here in IL with my trusty 20ga. Had to change my plans because a utility crew was doing work on the west side of our property which is a travel route to food. I am sitting over looking bottoms on the east side now. Haven't see much activity this season from this spot but here goes nothing Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
