I agree with Cls here, your confidence is key. Make sure you always continue to practice shooting even during the season. Especially with heavy gear on so youre prepared for the later season weather as well! A lot of us guys dont practice throughout the season, even i have been guilty of this up to this point. Bad shots happen to the best of us, but practice is vital! One key thing to pick up on, is practice while youre heart is racing. I know its not the same as buck fever, but ill occasionally do a few short sprints or workouts to getthe blood pumping, heart racing, then immediately take a few shots. The first shot is always the most crucial though! Best of luck in the future!

Thanks guys I appreciate the feedback and conscern, I will continue to practice, and I have tried getting the heart rate up before but haven't done that for awhile so I will try that again.

Got set up super late today on public land, was running so late i decided to pack up my mountain bike to speed up the 1.3 mile hike, and man was that a dream! Made it so much easier getting to the stand. But it made quite a bit of noise rolling over the frost bitten ground. Oh well. Borrowed a climber from my neighbor, turns out the damn shooting rail is missing a pin. Not a problem in general but damn did that make some noise on the way up the tree. Ugh. Forgot my back tag at home when i pulled my jacket out of the wash this morning too. And on top of all this, i really do hate the weather man today. Forcast called for 15-20mph winds out of the west with moderate gale force wind warning until 2pm. Thats why i waited so long to leave this morning, couldnt decide whether or not it wouldve been safe to be in the air! Get out here, turns out its dead calm with the occasional 1-3mph breeze out of the EAST! What the heck mister weather man! I found outthe wind was going the wrong way when i sprayed my hot shot#69 and it blew right into my face!! EWWWW. For those who dont know, dont try it. #69 does NOT taste good. Anywayss. That being said, good luck to everyone out today!

I pretty much ignore the wind forecast on my weather apps. I have tried the weather channel app and the Wunderground app, and both are usually of by about 180 degrees on their wind forecast. With Wunderground I frequently find they are off on the current temps by about 10 degrees.

I've always had really good luck with NOAA for wind.

Well that concludes my hunt today. Had 5 does on top of me feeding for an hour and didn't get busted. I call that a win anytime that happens. Had a spike stroll through, a lil 6 point and a busted off what I think would have been an 8 or nice 7. Better luck next time and good luck to all thathat are still out.

Yep, that Weather Channel app is a joke! Just for kicks, this morning I checked the air temp and it said it was 54F, when in reality it was 36F!!!! They rarely get the wind direction right either. Unreal!!

I'm a failed bowhunter. Hunted this buck since yesterday morning. Passed him up twice with the rifle because I wanted to get one with the bow. Me and Dad got 60 yards from him, but I won't shoot that far with my bow. He was about to quit the country, so I made a long shot on him with my rifle. The only reason I did that is because he was the nicest one I've seen. Still wish I could have pulled it off with my bow, but oh well. Now I've done it, and maybe I can kill one with my bow next time. Still super stoked. Ok ok, I'll stop with the gun hunting pics on BOWhunting.com.

Well guys I missed a nine point tonight. But lucky thing is I still found my arrow thanks to the lumenok. I was sitting on a fence line and it was my first shot I have ever taken while sitting down. Oh well there's bigger deer out there!

I think it's probably a little of both.
