In the blind again this evening. Winds are calming down and making for a beautiful evening. No where else I'd rather be than in God's creation doing what I love. Good luck to everybody else that's out tonight.

Don't feel bad, I can count on one hand (literally) the number of deer I have seen during this year's rut. I'm talking more than 60 hours on stand! I have to admit though, I did let a basket 8pt (10yrds) and a lone doe (buck bait) walk. I just took video of both of them.

Our whole deer camp only saw 1 deer today. worst opening shotgun day ever. probably heard 12 shots all day. Usually hear 30 shots in the first hour.

Just at sundown the does and the fawns piled out in to the food plot.
    Try again in the morning.

Can't wait to hit that pillow, dad and I are running on about 3 hours of sleep each since he got in late last night, he knows how to get to the stand now so we will be on opposite ends of the farm hoping that one of us gets a shot at one!!! Will be attempting to self film tomorrow, I have been putting this off but getting a kill on film has been one of the goals for me this season really hoping to make it happen good luck to everyone tomorrow

Holy cow, pretty exciting last 30-45 mins of shooting light. Just put a stalk on probably one of the biggest deer ever seen in person. Started off about 600 yards away and after circling around in the creek and getting to maybe 150 yards out ran out of light. Maybe woulda had a shot but when creeper up creek bank and spotted him he was pretty much facing me head on. Kinda disappointed but it despite being wore the heck out and having wet feet it got the blood flowing. He was locked on a doe and still got couple days so hopefully get another chance.

I have a question for all of you. figured I would ask on this thread to get a quicker response from you guys seeing that this is where the die hards chat. I am buying a treestand tonight or tomorrow. looking at the lone wolf sit and climb or the xop sit and climb. I need feedback on both. xop doesn't give weight but lone wolf is 20#. I need comfort and packability. I was going to get the lone wolf hand climber because it is what I had in the past but hought maybe the sit and climb would be better. I am not opposed to go with hand climber either. I am trying to get a run and gun stand for our late season. thoughts?

tc, I have the LW set-n-climb. I like it a lot. It is very comfortable IMO. I'm not sure how good it would be for run-n-gun though. It does fold up good. I just don't put it up/take it down in a hurry so I wouldn't be a good judge of that.

For what it's worth, from what I witnessed tonight the mature does at the in-laws are all back with their fawns. They've been gone for about a week.

I love my LW. Pretty much all I use for the season. Sit and climb has held up nicely over the years.
