Sat from one till quarter till five seen one deer. Of course it was the one the wife seen last night in the yard. But it came out of park at 114 yds. Go figure and walk from the pasture to the big woods so myjesticaly looking for the girls. I think wind was so hard couldn't hear me or didn't want to acknowledge me lol. Since dnr of il. Says we can bow hunt with shotgun tag wife says go get one just don't know what to do love hunting sucks when il wants more money and still got two open tags
congrats to all that got one today! I think it is going to be one of those years that there isn't a strong rut. I think it is all happening at night. seems like the does are coming into heat at a rate the bucks can breed them without chasing. good luck tomorrow guys.
Watched a buck breed a doe tonight 100 yards in front of me. They stayed put in lock down mode and he slowly followed her around never leaving a grassy area. He laid down after the first attempt and she just stood there. 73 degrees out.
In bed now trying to grasp the idea of sitting in the same stand because I don't want to get up at 2 to move it. I hate the wind tomorrow
Up in the stand, not the stand I wanted to be in but I had to walk dad to a stand this this one was close by, I'll have to get down early for class but he'll be out most of the day, got one of shooters back on camera the other night in this area, nice to know he's still alive with the gun season in full swing here, hoping one comes by dad! Heading out for another morning sit before gun season opens tomorrow. Temps in the 40's but with a strong NW wind, I can't really hunt out of either one of my stands. Going to sit on the ground on the edge of the big alfalfa field where I can see a good portion of the property. Hoping that if I see a shooter I can call to him and get him in range, if not this should be a good observation spot. Got a big 7 that just showed up on camera so fingers crossed...Good luck out there everybody and be safe!!

Last hunt before heading back to work and guns start up tomorrow. Supposed to be calm and cold doe 2 hrs so I switched up my tactics and I'm hunting a creek bottom. Brought my old bow as good luck. Good luck cmtrav

All in the stand ready to go. So I changed my mind at the last minute and decided to sneak into my ground blind. The wind is perfect for the blind setup but I wasn't sure about having to walk in downwind. I drug a rag with a little tinks 69 on the way in so hopefully that will help. I hate second guessing myself but something just told me in needed to be here this morning...We'll see if I end up kicking myself later
Time to let the slug do it's thing. 63 degrees here when I was field dressing a deer in a blizzard last year. Safe hunting everyone.
