Just thought about this....hunted 16 days in a row. Over that time, I'd say 50 percent of the time Ive had does within range....hell i've set up and had them literally stand up from being bedded all day and walk right past me.

0 bucks following, 0 chasing. Im lost.

That is definitely a head scratcher.

My problem is all adult deer movement has stopped. Just fawns. That means Momma has a boyfriend.

I hear ya man. Im not seeing any kind of rut here whatsoever. Ive seen one 3 year old following a doe and thats it. All the other does have had nothing behind them.

Maybe the rut is gonna be late. ...general firearms start this Saturday after the muzzeloaders have already been in for 2 weeks. If it is a late rut the bucks are going to get hammered.

It was like that last year around here. Big boys didn't really start chasing until after Thanksgiving right into second gun season. Seems about that way this year, younger ones are chasing and running around now.

I got out late and in my blind by 10:30,nothing till I left at 2:30. I got a voice message from my Dr to come in right away. Well I'm waiting on good or bad news so I pack up and step out of my blind and over the hill comes a 170 7x6 pushing 2 does . The rutt is going to start up north . 1st buck I have seen besides my TC pics he might have been chasing.

Can't tell the size of it, if it's big enough kinda looks like a melanistic bobcat. Hard to tell on my phone.

    Stray cat or what?

For MO's gun opener last weekend the orange army killed over 96,000 deer.
I think we are in the middle of it here. With the forecast for the weekend most of the orange army will bail out due to being too cold. Unless the shooting house has a heater.

Well boys I had my chance tonight. Clean miss at 35yds. My brother-in-law, who is on this trip with me, killed a nice 8 at about 3pm. Not bad for the first time setting foot on the property. I'm hunting in the morning then we're headed home.

    Blessings...........Pastorjim
