This has been the worst year of hunting in the past 5 years I've been bowhunting. The rut has been brutal

Just realized with my buck this morning I did two things I've never done before.

Made the 200 point club in the contest finally and I've taken a deer out of my effective bow range of 40 yds. I chalk that up to the stand/lanes moreso than the weapon.

I'll still be rooting and cheering from work the next week or two. Hope everyone gets the chance to get it done.

I didn't see great rut action. Seen 5 cruisers, one fork horn bust a bedding area and chase them around and one spike following(tending?) a doe. Seen groups of doe and no bucks and even a button in tow with two mature does.

Seems every year we always differ on what stage the rut is in, this year seems to be more widespread in agreement than most.

I ended up seeing the nice 10 and a big what looked to be 8.. both out of range and seemed to be on does. Nothing came by to check the scrape. Im figuring they will still check it from time to time looking for the next hot doe? Im going to hunt over it again tomorrow anyway and I guess I will find out lol

No luck tonight. Saw a small buck out of range and a couple of does in the field on the walk out. No cruising or seeking to speak of this weekend where I'm hunting...

Tonight was pretty boring. I finally did see a doe crossing the creek going to the other side. That was it.

Back at it in the morning. Going to the in-laws.
