We will see if there is ground shrinkage. He's saying 150 +. Saw him at 600 yards out and rattled. He said the deer turned and sprinted to him so he didn't get a great look at the antlers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have two weeks righy now, normally use one week in the Spring for morels and one for the rut. Thinking I can get away with using 3 day weekends for the mushrooms and save the vacation for deer season.
Tony shot 3 arrows at a deer once to.... but missed on everyone!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The wraps are pink. I suspect that I hit Liver, maybe one lung. Arrow is covered from tip to nock. Blood is darker than a typical lung or heart shot. Hoping a get Lucky with the coyotes. They are rarely seen on the property I hunt. Pretty sure they were across the river. Hopefully, they stay there tonight.
I washed my cold weather one piece tonight. Not doing an all day sit tomorrow so I'm going to be comfortable those first few hours when below freezing. Haven't had any time to adapt to the cold. Went from lows in the 40's and 50's my last couple sits to freezing. Got a bit cold today but I knew it was going to warm up so dressed light.
kind of screwed up on my pictures, did not check them before loading up...... i was tired from draggin his butt out, and had to dead lift him in the truck alone....but oh well.....now for the story.... Got in stand right around 1:00, took a little breather, hit the grunt call, then rattled....heard something jump up about 50 yds to my right and see him coming in.....i stop rattling and grab my bow...he stops.....stands behind some trees off to my right for a good 5 mins....i hear more movement and see a doe run out of the area where the buck came from....guessing he was tending her and she wasnt ready....the buck finally starts moving my way, gets on a scent trail i laid when i came in....gets to where i put the drag in a bush and stands there drooling over it and staring me down for a few mins....he finally continues on the trial i came in on, goes behind a tree, i draw back and he stops right behind a sappling....stands there for 2 to 3 mins eating leaves, finally takes a few more steps and comes out from behind a tree...bleh....smack....arrow doesnt pass through, but i can see it was a good shot and good penetration...he runs to my left and then circles back towards me about 40yds to my front left, see him do a wobbly spin, cough and drop.....find arrow on the blood trail....couldnt find the other half....we found it when we gutted him, smacked a rib and stayed in....double lung and the arrow shredded his heart, guessing from bouncing around inside....using the NAP spitfire doublecross this year and they really opened up a huge *** hole through him, lots of blood even without a pass through...
I ended up finally seeing a shooter but no shot. It ended up in front of my buddy, who hasn't killed a deer before. He had him at 10 yards, and completely fell apart. Major buck fever and couldn't even pull the trigger he was shaking so bad! I warned him of this phenomenon, he didn't believe me.
