I can't/don't miss work period...we are extremely short handed...reason I don't hunt during the work week Is because I have to be up at 330 to get ready for work, and at work by 430, so if I have a late night of tracking, work the next day will suck...but for that buck I seen yesterday, it would be more then worth it:..

I've been out of the truck working for an hour and a half. When I get back in and hit refresh, I see 3 new pages and think all right. Now all I have is the pic of Joe in the shower engraved in my head again. Took a week to get it out last time, lol

    I hear ya.
I wouldn't be at it this hard if I didn't have a specific target.

The real questions is what stand to hunt, the one I think he could have walked by, or the one I know he walked by, the wind is better for the one I think, but is manageable with the one I know...I keep asking my self why did that deer walk by there at that point in time, he wasn't seeking, he was just meandering through.....

Today was the last day. Apparently all the small game people thought it would be nice to kill the vibes for the archery hunters on SGL. Nothing but .22 all morning between the chatter of them. I picked a perfect spot, right off a bedding and food area "where the does" go.

This was my first full pledged archery season and I came up completely empty. I've sat all days, took a multitude of days off from work, and have not seen a single deer from my stand or blind. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm using best gear, scent protection, and have been honing my shots weekly for that perfect first archery buck.

Back to the drawing board... time to find a better plot of land for next year. Going to out even more effort and hopefully just pickup a few sets so I don't have to rely on a climber or blind. Thanks for all the motivation guys and I hope a few more people put down some deer today!

Jeff do not get discouraged you work hard and then one day it feels like you get lucky, other days you do everything right and it goes wrong.

Well, back to the truck empty handed. My son has a basketball game I have to get to, hoping to be back out tomorrow evening maybe with my son if he wants to go. Not much action today, saw 2 little bucks and one fawn. No mature doe or buck sightings this morning.

I love sunny days in the deer woods. Look down the trail and see a clump of weeds. Just beyond that there is the faint image of a deer feeding. 2 hours later as the sun angle changes that faint feeding deer is now a clump of weeds and the clump of weeds is now a deer standing there staring at you.

Gotta love the human mind and its creativity

Congrats on a great buck Westfinger!!

Jeff, keep your head up buddy. Bowhunting is tough and it only takes being in the right place at the right time once and it's all worth it.Keep doing what your doing and you'll get 'em.

When is it okay to start yelling at a bedded spike? It's been two hours.

That's one of the reasons I prefer hunting when it's cloudy.

It just didn't seem like it...head was up, never put nose to ground, really wasn't scent checking the air...not responding to any calls...
