Back in Columbia Wisconsin. Coldest morning this fall. Buddies have hunted here the past 2 days...very slow. Deer by tree walking in. Deer near me in the dark. Doe and fawn with little buck 200 yards to the west. Saw a couple toads last weekend. I have 2.5 days to get it done.
Trying to decide where to sit this afternoon. The big doe group I was counting on last night must have come out on the other side of the valley. Trying to pick the right side for tonight with out flipping a coin
Heard grunting in the clearcut first light. Nothing since. Yesterday was awesome today not so much. Van change fast. Hoping and praying.
Now that I've got my Pop taken care of for the day, I will be able to get an evening in. This will probably be my best/last chance at a buck this season. Next season SHOULD be very different. Good luck out there guys, and BE SAFE!
Nothing since Buck early this morning Dead quite birds aren't even chirping Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
About 7:30 saw a hunter behind me walking out of the woods on his phone. 30 mins later a truck pulling through the field. Moved to a different property as a Hail Mary. Have till 11 then need to get home Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I could see something in the distance so I put my binos up and caught a glimpse of a back. Grabbed the grunt tube and grunted a few times. A min later I caught a glimpse of him coming through the think bedding area. I hit him with another grunt. He comes out and starts my way. I size him up quickly and decide he's a shooter. Not my biggest and I'm hoping I didn't make the wrong call. He gets to 15 yards and swings around. He's winded me, I grunt he stops. I spin my dial to 35. He takes a step and I let him have it. Runs twenty yards and crashes. I hope... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thinking I need to move this stand about 70 yards back into the woods, lots of videos on the camera but mostly night time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Following from the hotel, still have a doe tag but could not get motivated to get out of bed. Let's see some deer die.
Alot different today. The woods are sterile. Nothing. One or two squirrels. Going to be a long last day im afraid. Might as well rub salt in the wound i guess.
Took a little nap. Nothing yet. It's hard to stay awake with summit comfort & under armors cold gear stuff. So comfy. Winds picked up and temps are staying chilly!
Wind is too calm. Scent pooling. Had 2 does so far, one from and one from NW. Both 90yds and very cautious, turned back the way the came on a trot. 25 min apart, no clue if anything with them
