I got bored. I hadn't seen anything and with this win blowing right in my face, I decided to work the property a little. Walked all 12 acres. Not a jump, bump, or sign of any deer. Debating switching to state game land tonight. Frustrated. 5 days out now and haven't laid eyes on a single deer, except on the drive to my blind this morning. Big, wide 12pt... almost debated running him over as he followed his doe across the road.
That's my goal for this offseason. Whether it's leases or public land, I need to find some good rutting areas.
For some reason i thought i was going to be blessed this season with a nice buck. Instead ive been blessed by getting tortured. This is like water boarding.
Funky thing. Looked like a 2 1/2, normal 4 pt(8 pt) on right side and 3 tines sticking out left side. Odd Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Thinking about taking a head first dive off the stand if I don't see a buck soon. This is unbelievable.
Swamp I'm rooting for you man. My rut hunting has been tough but nothing compared to yours. I'm heading and should be on stand by 1. Here is my thought today. Tons of hunters on the military vase. I found a small 2 acre thicket between huge bedding areas. Maybe 400 yds away from each of the other larger bedding areas. I'm thinking with all the hunter pressure thr does will relocate to the other smaller bedding area. Not great sign when I scouted it but it does have some nice white oaks by it. Feed equals does equals bucks. Or.....a more classic Ridgeline thicket hunt. Terrain pinches down hard and I found good sign. But the area is a little more well known and closer to the road and other hunters. Not sure which one....
I hadn't seen a deer till 930 and now I've seen 10 in the past hour. I haven't seen a deer out of this stand all year.
Hmm that's a tough one VS... I'd try the thicket today and save the other one for tomorrow, being as it will be Saturday. But.... lol dammed if ya do, dammed if ya don't! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
