Going to have a perfect wind tomorrow for either stand I want to hunt. Just not sure which one to hunt.

Do I choose the open travel corridor with bedding nearby or hit the stand I killed from Monday in the valley of multiple ridges?

Going to head to the gas station and fill up tonight, then eating same breakfast as Monday and no stops along the way. Coffee and two twinkies

I'd go for the bedding area.

Well my buddy had 2 deer within 30 yds tonight. He was excited and that was the first time he had ever seen deer on public land. I didn't see a thing minus some turkey.

That was my initial thoughts, then started second guessing myself.

I'll start my day there, see what happens. Always trust the initial gut feeling.

Very uneventful day over here. Saw one spike and that was it.

Tonight was by far the best hunt of the season (and didn't even get 1). Worked 6-2 today and decided afterwards to give a Public Land Spot a try (I go right by going home anyhow) so I get there 2:20ish and after changing and walking back and up in the tree it's a bit after 3.... not 1/2hr there I spot 2 does to my right (pic below is the area) but across the stream bout 70yds.

They didn't work themselves in. Then I hit the grunt call short but hard and roughly 2mins later I see movement over there but this time on the right side of the stream and coming from the brush.. so I'm thinking it's a Buck.. so I hit the grunt call again.. and to my surprise I'm thinking the deal is getting sealed tonight and then it appears it's a huge nanny doe (old and just rough looking).... she's working her way in to me bout 30yds and then all of a sudden stops on a dime and turns to her right and I slightly turn my head to my left and across the water straight in front of her are 2 Bucks (very small racks, not button bucks but def not shooters.. what happened next is amazing. The nanny doe swells up from neck to back area and makes a dead line walk right across the water to these 2 bucks.... she was looking for some action lol.... the bucks wanted no parts of her. She was def the aggressor here....

Video below is not the best I didn't zoom in but you should be able to in order to see the action.. they stayed over there a good 15-20mins and for bells and whistles sake I hit the grunt a few times hoping for a mature buck but to no avail... then last light came. But again it was a great time...

So guess where I'm going tomorrow after work lol

My evening got better after my last post. I heard something behind my stand about 40 yards and south. I look over and it is a shooter! He starts to head toward the field my decoy is in, but gets alarmed, probably the decoy. He then turns back in, and comes right behind my stand, 15 yards! I have a decently clear shot but cannot take it, property I am hunting only goes to 10 yards! He continues the way he was going, I am thinking he trying to get downwind of the deek, and he might have been, but legal light passes, and I see him no more. Then I bump 6 deer on the way out. Much better afternoon than yesterday! I forgot to mention, very nice 8, especially where I hunt!

Well heading out into the smoke in the am, supposed to be 30°. We shall she how it goes, and how long, or how bad the smoke is. Trigger finger is itchy.

Taking the girlfriend out tomorrow morning for her first morning sit this year she said she's tired of not seeing any deer, she's been out 5 times in her life and we saw a doe one sit... but I think the morning will give her a good chance I've only sat in this stand 2 times the first time I didn't see anything but I could hear some deer moving in the pines snapping sticks running etc. the second time I sat I had two does come by to 25 yards so hoping those two are in the area tomorrow and she gets a shot at one, bringing along my bow as well in case there's a big buck that's over 25 yards out

I was debating between two spots for tomorrow. the spot I want to go to is a clearcut on top of a ridge that I have had numerous encounters over the years. second spot is acorns in the valley with an active scrape. what is making it hard for me to decide is we are going to have 16mph wind all day tomorrow. thought it would be less windy in the valley. do you guys think that the wind will play a big role on where the deer will hang out for the day?

In your experience, if a buck was spotted in a doe bedding area in the morning and evening if the same day, has he often still been there the following morning?

saw 3 bucks and 5 does. Had a 170 inch deer we know well at 150 yards. so frustrating. I was shaking like a leaf... 2 years of pictures, first ever encounter. He's almost 100% nocturnal

Yes. There has been some small bucks but the majority has been does with fawns.

Gonna go for a morning hunt tomorrow to see if I can whack a doe, haven't gone out since I got my buck and just can't keep myself out of the woods any longer.

Weather says 45,calm and slightly cloudy, should be a good hunt.
