Wait longer! If you seen him walking and limping you didn't double lung him. With that little penetration your hoping for one lung and a deer can go a ways if bumped on one lung! If left alone hopefully he finds a bed and expires. Wait a minimum 4 hours if u ask me!
So impressive! I can only imagine the emotions that went through you in those magical minutes seeing him, drawing on him, picking your spot, trying to remember to breathe, punching the trigger, watching the arrow burry into him and then hearing the crash. I still in 7 seasons have yet to let an arrow go at a buck. Way to go holt. Way to go! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Back on stand. Put my buddy in a great spot. My spot ain't great but I'm hoping he gets some action. Hahaha. I work so hard to find these spots and just give them away. Lol. No wonder I suck as a big buck hunter.
Anyone doing any good over active scrapes? Debating to move to my other stsnd that has an active scrape with fresh acorns falling next to it for the evening. Or i might just stay in this thick crp type grass that has mud trails going through it. Decisions!
Best advise is to wait - if he's dead, he'll be there. My shot the last week was high and forward, hit the top of both lungs after it bounced off the shoulder. Only had half the arrow penetrate. 15 yards away at 16 feet up with Killzones @ 65 pounds. Each shot/deer can be different.
Haha, I was thinking of just dropping my bow from the stand ( like a mic) after the shot! I never going to beat this buck
Never say never Holt. That is one of the many reasons to go hunting as often as you can.................you just never know what is coming down the trail next.
