Rattled at first light as I usually do. 10 minutes later here he came off a ridge heading away from me. I grunted. He paused and then proceeded the other way. I snort wheezed and then rattled. He turned and started heading my way. Took a shot at 15 yards. He stumbled up a very steep hill and I heard him crash at the other side of it. But it's never that easy is it?? Kinda like life - how ironic. I've heard quite a bit of wrestling around in that direction since as if he's trying to pull himself up but can't. Thought I made a decent shot but I thought that Sunday morning also...

Haha right!! You know that was my attitude going in. I said, if I shoot another buck and don't find him or make a poor shot I will look like an idiot. Here is the thing, I didn't want to hunt today. Even after I said I was done looking yesterday I went out with another buddy again in the evening and looked again. I put in 6+ hours looking for that deer. I was definitely feeling defeated. I figured after I shot that deer just now that I'd go ahead and share my successes or failures again. Life is full of that - I'm out here just like everyone else trying trying to put meat in the freezer and a buck on the ground. Sometimes hunting is hard, especially bow hunting! Hope I find him - he wasn't as big as the on Sunday but think he's pretty decent.
