Had my son snap a couple with his phone. I'm afraid they didn't turn out the best but it should be adequate to claim my 50 points.
Going to miss opening day this year.. But I will be in a tree the day after. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Back in the stand this morning. 50deg, clear blue skies, no wind, very quiet. 3rd day of VT Bear season. Out with the crossbow. Sitting on a side hill along a logging road, surrounded by berry bushes and 18yds from a ground give that the Bears have been hitting. So far just red squirrels. See how the morning goes, so far it's perfect!
Well, not really live, but this is my view to the west. This is to my south and I don't want anything to come from there cuz the wind is wrong, And then this would be the ideal place to put an arrow through some lungs. It is on my east side. Right at sundown I spotted a deer to the north of me. Just judging by body size I figured it was a buck. Then I put my new binocs on it, and it was a doe. Not only was it the biggest doe I have ever seen, it probably would have been the biggest deer I ever killed if it would have come closer than 118 yards. I learned a new fun fact tonight. Deer will browse on Russian Olives. I don't know if she was eating the olives, or just the leaves. Apparently she preferred that to the alfalfa field across the road.
One more morning for me trying to get eyes on a black bear before I get back to work. Nothing but red squirrels and chipmunks, but that's ok, these mornings have been awesome. Dead quiet today, no wind, 45deg, sitting in a different stand this morning. My brassica plot, 2 apple trees, and Brook. It's also one of the ways they travel through to get to a 5 acre natural Apple and berry field. The Bears are here, it's just a matter of one walking by in bow range.
