Shot a buck. Small windown 3 quater turned away - tough call but decided to make the shot as it was only 20 yrds. Got down to look for arrow couldn't find it but did find drop of dark blood. He back leg kicked and sprinted off.
Rather uncharted territory, been bow hunting for 7 years now and have never even shot at a buck let alone killed one. Had plenty of chances just don't shoot what I consider to be marginal bucks... think this guy was nice - it happened so fast.
Made it out a little late , forgot time change makes it brighter earlier , but should be a good morning,
wait wait wait..........before you do, Did you see where the arrow hit the deer?? can you post a pic of the blood? you said it was dark red?
Seen 6 deee total this morning. 3 bucks and 3 doe. Currently have a spike with a doe underneath mystand. Rattled 4 times early this morning in a 30 minute period that is what brought those bucks in earlier I think.
In the tree now covered up so no where to go. He was turned away from me so I was trying to put one up through the middle of him and punch through vitals/chest. Did not see entry though. Blood is dark red. Will post photo when I get down.
Shot a nice 8 at sunrise... found arrow .. well, all but 3 " of it The cracked end had a little blood on the very end of it... rest of the arrow is clean He took off like a bat out of Hell. I waited 45 minutes and found the arrow
well going by what ive seen so far, its not full throttle here yet. if it is its not in my neck of the woods. Seen smaller bucks dogging but nothing i would shoot. Thinking of going to work for the next three days in exchange for the 14th 15th 16th.... ill check cams today and try to decide. i hate making decisions about hunting. i always second and third guess myself
