I have taken a week for a few years, but I just learned the word this year on this forum and I love it lol idk why it's just a word but there it is
I hear ya, just looked at the extended forecast. Littered with mid 60 highs and low 50 lows. Only good thing is won't have to break out any cold weather gear. This weekend looks to be the coolest of the next week, and that's not saying much.
Yeah I really wis I could have went out today although I'm not sure setting up in that strong storm would have been fun
Almost hit the 30s this morning here in NE WI. That was as cool as it's going to get all weekend. First time sitting this stand. I'm pumped.
Its dead quiet here this morning. Still not seeing anything. We heard one deer blowing. A deer blows at that same spot every time we are within earshot of it. Our scent isn't blowing to them. Kind of strange.
Pretty much no action here this morning where I'm at. One 6 pointer. Same one that comes by every day. Woke up with temps near 60... again. Taking my fiancé for the next couple days. Wish me luck. Good luck to those in the stand today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nothing yet this morning. Hunting a stand I don't really care for but it's the only one that works with changing winds that I'm supposed to be getting. Mid afternoon I'll be in one of my best stands for the evening. Orange army comes out this weekend so hopefully can fill my tag before then. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Had 2 really nice bucks come flying by me chasing a doe. Tried stopping them but they were on a mission. Awesome to see
Nice!!! I'll never forget my (east coaster) first day hunting the rut in Illinois. I heard a doe blowing, I though it was at me. I then heard crashing, sticks breaking, and I even heard a buck grunting (for the first time ever.) The yearling doe was blowing because she was being dogged by FIVE, P&Y caliber bucks! All grunting chasing her, 10 yards in front of my stand. I was in such complete and total awe, that it never occurred to me that I should try to stop them.
That doesn't happen in the Midwest. Lol. Last nights hunt was amazing. Needed that 12 pointer 20 yards closer and he was mine! Would have been my biggest buck to date by a long ways! I've seen him twice in that field exactly a week apart. Trying to get off work early so I can get back in the tree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Heck, even last year we had snow flakes during first gun season. Haven't even had our first frost/freeze yet. Normally happens around Oct 19th or so. This is the latest for most of at least central IL
Got blown at first thing his morning when I got out of the truck. It was coming from the ridge I was gonna go across. So I changed plan walked down the road and cut across the cut beans. Didn't bust anything out. I've been showered with hickory nut shavings from a huge fox squirrel sitting above me. Just had 2 fawns stroll in and mill around a bit. I think they were decoys. I seen the tail end of a bigger deer headed down the ridge to my right when they were here.
