Skunked tonight, thinking this warm weather is messing with the rut here in Minnesota

That's why I love hunting in a Special Regs WMU (5-D), where you can kill a buck right through Nov 26th.

Well I had a horrible morning before light. One of my sticks came lose and was banging the whole time I was walking the 1/2 mile to the tree. I hooked them all in a daisy chain and up I went until I got my 1at hung and noticed none of the others we're up in the tree with me. Back down and hook the next one on. Get it in place and the next then I realize the other 3 are still on the ground. FML. I climb back down and notice the sweat dripping off my hat. Get them all up and noticed my rope had fallen that was attached to my stand. Cheese n rice. Shine my light down and BAM a doe is sniffing my bag in the dark. Here I am the jack *** that should have already been in stand but the Gods hate me for some reason this morning. Deer takes off not sure what was happening didn't make a noise so that was on my side. Got down and hooked everything up and secured my life line to the bottom of the tree. Finally in stand I hear more sniffing at the bottom of the tree. This time I didn't shine my light. Sat until light and nothing happened until about 9. ImageUploadedByBowhunting.com Forums1478133739.232744.jpg
I saw a deer briefly at 40 yards and it headed to the cut corn. Then I look behind me and I see deer heading my way.

    Then another
They are both fawns a doe and button buck. The doe has been shot in the Ace. You can see the entrance near her spine and the exit near the tail

We ended up seeing a doe and 2 fawns tonight. Its been so warm and with swirling winds it was a tough situation. I'm hoping with the cooler weather we will have a little better luck the next several days.

I hope so Jake. Supposed to cool down to just a little above average temps by Friday.

Saw two 1.5 year old bucks and a small doe tonight within 20 yards. Hunting all day tomorrow.

Arrows can definitely get stuck in an animal when they smack bone. Good luck looking for it.

Headed out in Illinois. Storms came through last night, big temp drop this morning, should be good. Tomorrows even colder but today should be good.

You definitely gave it a hell of an effort! Sucks that it didn't turn out the way we all wanted it to. Definitely does look like a brisket hit, I had one similar two years ago. I'll try to post the pictures that are similar to yours.

The good news is I think I have perfect set up. This place looked like a deer highway with tracks all over the place as well as fresh rubs. I made a few mock scrapes and will leave it along until next weekend. The chasing has yet to start here or I would have seen it in the spot for sure. Hopefully by next week it will pick up

Working today and this weekend and then off for two weeks. The rut usually begins in my area around the 8th so I should be hitting it just right. Good luck to everyone out today.

    Blessings.........Pastorjim

Sure wish I was out this morning, love hunting these damp misty mornings. 4:30 cannot get here soon enough.

Work is having the annual chili cook off today, have to limit myself  I think they purposely set it the day before my rutcation begins.

Good luck to all lucky enough to be out there this morning.
