Good news! The radiator in my wife's Honda accord blew a hole in it on the way home! So guess who doesn't get to hunt tomorrow? This guy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
2 more days of work and then I will be spending more time in a deer stand than I will at home the following 10 days. Go big or go home and I'm not going home! I will not oversleep, I will not settle for less, I will not be deterred by temps, wind or hounds. The next 2 weeks belong to me, if I fail it is of my own undoing.
No worries, most here know that I'll be on here complaining about something. I get discouraged easily, sometimes with merit other times not so much. It's all in fun, my expectations are low but hopes high.
Had a doe bound a few times down the hill in front of me and then slow down and start feeding. I expected to see some horns show up behind her but she was the only deer that I saw tonight.
Does and fawns but a lil spike come thru and chasin them ran them off. Then had a pack of coyotes come thru couldn get a shot off tho..
I have yet to see any Rut activity on this farm other then night time pics of bucks hitting scrapes. When does and bucks are in the same field, there is no chasing.
Rattled in a little six pointer and a spike. Not the deer I'm looking for. But it was a cool encounter nonetheless. He worked his way downwind of me and never knew I was there. Scent control in check! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Back in the stand Thursday night/ Friday morning. Couldn't be more excited and hoping the rut is cranked up in Western Wisconsin! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
2 days of heat heading this way followed by some pretty decent temps for over a week. This Friday the rut should start hitting hard around here.
That is odd. Are there generally good deer numbers on that farm, or is it like my woods, where you see a deer every 3rd or 4th sit. haha
Good number of deer on the farm, but the food has shifted. This farm was beans and they have been harvested. The surrounding farms are corn and its still standing, so I think most the deer are still on the corn. Driving out at night I see a lot of deer heading to the corn. I just need the corn gone!
Well they're all on the cut corn. One doe and and two fawns came into my Brassica and clover tonight. Walked out and saw a nice racked buck chasing does (about 9) around the cut corn. Sent from my Turbo 2.
Alrighty then! Tahoe is loaded. Loose cloth on couch for easy removal at site. GoPro on charger. Can't find my spare battery charge for my dead spare GoPro batteries. Threw in 2 hats but I didn't have time to wash them. Good thing I have a clean one in tub with hunting gear. Boots are still covered in dried mud from last visit and also in tub. Hope my cloth don't smell like feet now. I didn't think that one through very well. Baking powder will be my only option in the morning I guess and dead down wind. Got a plan of action memorized. 2 alarms set. Wallet is already in the Tahoe. My stand and sticks are in the back. I wish I could remember what I was going to pick up at the sporting goods store. Getting up at 3:30 am out the door by 4:00, parking Tahoe at 4:30, getting dressed and loaded up by 5:00, at tree by 5:30, settled in by 6:15 (hopefully). Dead deer by 7:00??? Actually now that I put this down I'm moving it up a half hour. Alarm now set for 3:00 am
