***Official 2016 Live from the Stand Thread***

It's going to be crazy once things break, the entire forum has been a bit slow for the time of year. Never really had that early season blitz, Oct. lull followed by the rut bonanza. Seems this year is going to be an all out rut frenzy followed by some late season success.


Here in IL 1st gun season is going to be nuts, weather is looking cold. I'll be out there myself, but youth weekend was the same scenario and they had a record harvest. Could see similar trends on a larger scale.

 

That is rough. Maybe next weekend will be better for you.

 

I didn't see anything today either. Have to work next weekend so not sure if I can get out. Have 7-8&11 off so hopefully things are heated up tgen

Went out this afternoon to a ladder stand along a tree line that runs through some CRP.About 20 mins before dark I caught a glimpse of him at about 90 yards then he disappeared only to pop out at 75 yards,I grunted at him once and he turned and walked straight towards me till about 40 yards then kinda milled around until he saw the little buck that was off to my right,they met at 35 yards and bristled up and circled each other for a couple minutes but never actually fought.

He started walking away then and the little buck was walking towards my stand so I grunted once and he turned and ran in to 26 yards,I drew when he ran in then when he stopped I 25 yards I smoked him.

I packed up and went back down to the truck and waited for my brother to get back so he could help me track.The slick trick OPENED him up big time !!,there was blood sprayed 3 foot high and all over the CRP that he ran through,65 yards later we found him.

Hes a perfect 10 with a spit left brow,haven't scored him but I'll let you guys know when I do.Here's more pics for good measure,and yes he looks WAY better from the back.
