I'm tellin ya. You have no idea how dumb I feel.
I'll be getting ready for next year January 16th. Our season opens September 15th.

 

I'm going out tomorrow morning after one eye. just too cold this morning plus I need a break from the walk it takes to get there. this afternoon i'll probably go back to the safety zone.

got into the stand on the farm i hunted last night and there are tracks everywhere. my confidence has been restored in this spot. i think it was just bad weather conditions last night. looks like it is going to be a good night. they are hitting these apples hard as long as i keep shaking them down.

 

As long as you aren't one of the apples that fall out of the tree we are good.

well I had to get out of the stand about 10 minutes before I wanted to because my wife had a meeting to go to tonight. you guessed it as soon as I lowered my bow to the ground 4-5 does comes running in. I tried lifting my bow back up but the deer were running everywhere acting crazy then ran off. just my luck this late season. I don't think I messed them up that much it was just a weird situation. hard to explain how they acted. I think they were ultimately trying to come in downwind but some of the fawns wanted to come directly in and the adults wanted to go down wind. they were really unorganized. the one good thing is that they will be back and so will I. I will be heading back in deep in the morning to go after ole one eye.

ok, enough looking at the ATA videos. I am gonna head to the stand and hope something with some headgear comes strolling by me. Wind is perfect for my stand this evening. Let's see what happens here.
