With all of this story, my stand faces north. Keep that in mind. I use directions more than left and right.
After the 1/2 rack 6 ptr showed up there were a couple of does that came out along with a button buck. The button buck ran off for no reason that I could see. The does just left after eating for a little bit. The 1/2 rack circled around north and then west of me. I didn't pay much attention to him since he disappeared out of sight to the SW of me. I notice off to the east across the neighbors place 5 does running for their life headed towards the back of my in-laws place. I never did see them again. There wasn't much going on in front of me so I tried to turn to see where 1/2 rack had went to. As I turned I noticed him looking right at me, along with 2 other does that I hadn't seen. I was busted. 1/2 rack trotted off and the 2 does went to blowing at me as they left to the north. This little party took about 15 minutes to finish up. By now it is 5:15. Sunset was right at 5. With it being about 20 after 5 I was going to get down. I figured that was the end of my fun for the evening. I was wrong. As I'm giving the area a last once over, just to make sure I don't get busted getting down, I notice movement to the east. It is the hardest area to see from my stand due to limbs that I've left in this hedge tree for cover. There is a deer standing just behind a Mulberry tree on the east side of the food plot. I pull up the binoculars to see what in the world is next. It is getting dark quick! Finally the deer moves.........It is him. I've waited for a daylight encounter all season for this guy. IMG_0245.jpg
It felt like he could hear my heart pounding in my chest. He was looking right in my direction. He finally made it to the NE corner of the food plot where he decided to stop and eat. It finally got to where I had to watch him with my binoculars just to see him good enough. I'm thinking there is NO WAY he is going to make it over to my side of the plot by 5:30, end of legal shooting.
He picked his head up and started walking my way to only make it 20 feet then go back to eating. I finally gave up hope of this ending tonight and decided to watch him. The only way I can see him is with my binoculars now. I can't get down now as there are another 8-10 deer that have made their way in to the food plot along with the big buck. At 6 I finally call the wife and ask her to come bump the deer out so I can get down. My wife and our oldest make their way along the south side of the pond. As they do they bump a flock of ducks off the pond. This spooks the deer. The does all took off to the north, tails up running. Big boy just trotted off about 20 yds and looked back to watch my wife and son wandering through the dark with a flash light. He watched them get within 60 yds of him before he just turned and walked off. I hurried up and got down and headed for the house.
After this deer filled day you must think I'm hunting in a deer park. Not really. This is my in-laws backyard inside the city limits. They own a 10 acre piece of deer heaven. My wife's Aunt and Uncle own the 10 acres to the west. It is just one of those pieces of ground.
Thanks everyone for listening to me ramble all afternoon.

That picture doesn't do him justice. He is every bit as big is the one I killed 2 years ago if not bigger. Hopefully it all works out.

Was getting ready to pull back on the sexy 6 aND i had my new phone on me..rang and buzzed and the deer bounced. What's the #&^/^__%%_^ purpose of being on vacation if they are f tards and can't fix it on their own. Ohh well , I'm way past discouraged. F it.

I'm on my way out right now. I will be after upland game though, not deer. Since I can't get a resident license till Feb. I just have a 3 day license. I am ever thankful to everyone that posted here this season as it allowed me some relief over not being able to get on stand this year. Good luck to everyone today.
