sorry for the late update on yesterdays hunt. I seen 5 bucks and 13 does. th2 first 2 bucks I seen were really nice with the 2nd of the two a little bigger. then they separated in the thicket as I was trying to count points and judge the age. they never appeared together again. only one at a time and I became nervous that I would shoot the smaller of the two so they eventually worked away and never offered me a confident shot at the bigger of the two. the one opportunity I had was a split second at his neck and I don't take neck shots. this situation is haunting me for some reason? maybe I am starting to get too picky I don't know? my wife says if you can't mount it then don't shoot it. with this in my mind I am starting to get frustrated. I have seen 28 busks this season and have yet to put one down grrrrr! I keep telling my self the odds are tightening up to my favor. I hope there will be a big reward at the end of this drought? as for crazy stories for the day I had to listen to a guys walkie talkie throughout the day across the thicket. how annoying! and I only had to flip off one d bag! other then that not to bad of a day.
Had Monday through Wed to hunt this week. It's been pouring rain since Sunday with no let up in sight. Good luck guys.
That's the only mature buck I've ever seen at this farm. The 8 pointer before him was the biggest I had seen before the bigger one came along. This isn't my best place to hunt, but I still like to hunt here. This is a 50 acre property my dad owns and is part of a big hunt club. All the other members kill everything. The last couple of years my dad allowed my younger brother and I to do some habitat work here. The results have been good so far. We have 3 bucks on camera this year that use the property that I would shoot. We keep low pressure on this piece and let everybody else push the deer to our property.
Well seen 4 more does this morning in the exact same place I see 3 bucks yesterday morning so I'm going back home grabbing some corn and going to hang a new stand! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Are you still in SE Missouri? Just wondering what they are doing? I am planning on 2 all dayers this weekend if necessary.
Back up in the tree in North Carolina with the stick and string!!! Felt good to get it done yesterday in pa. 60 down here and it's been overcast all day was able to get into the stand very quietly hoping to see something tonight
Going to give it a shot tomorrow night after work. Really windy tonight from the wrong direction. Good Luck everyone!!
Yeah I am. This was at the marble hill property. From what I've been seeing it looks like the bucks are still cruising trying to find the last does to come in heat. I really think that a buck could be called in right now. I would've tried this morning had I remembered my calls.
Well moved to a new setup this evening been seeing the deer use the pasture instead of the cut milo field! Had to change something but I'm sure they'll walk right under my other stand tonight!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Very true, i like it, but i need to move to find some food source, there just not using the trail like they were before
Good to know! I am planning on being there all day Saturday, and then Sunday morning if need be. Have to take the wife to a Christmas concert at Cape First Church Sunday night. When u say call them in, are you thinking of an estrous bleat?
