In the stand, saw one walking in but just a little too dark to get a shot. 28 degrees and sunny, perfect morning.

So buddy texts me yesterday around 10:30 and says hey lets go hunt but on part of the property we have never hunted before.
He had been seeing deer moving on a ridge from his his ladder stand about 300 yards away
So we took our climbers and hiked about a mile back to this ridge and set up within 30 yards of each other
One facing south the other facing north

Had two small bucks come in between us around 3:45 and milled around and tried to wind us
Then around 4:10 see 4 does pop over this ridge and start walking toward me
Then he pops over the ridge and is just walking on a string to me
Then the small buck starts chasing the does around one walks directly under me and stops and another circles behind me all the while he still closing ground
So I grab my bow he stops at 22 yards and eats acorns
Then he turns quartering too me and I let it rip he runs 25 yards and does a back flip

Was incredible hunt and something I will never forget.

This guy was shot on a coworkers family farm around 4pm this past Wednesday and recovered Thanksgiving morning.

Hopefully the quality is there, screenshot of a screenshot.

Well, rifle season over here. Time to let the property sit a week and check the cameras. Nobody hunted our little piece so maybe we'll see some late season action.

Good luck tc - I didn't even go out for opener. I'll try and make it after work a couple days - otherwise Saturday.

Congrats, CMT, that's a great buck! Amazing how different woods are just walking in further (I experienced it this year).

Yeah, guess it's the new fad.

Not that it would make a difference but I actually turned down an opportunity to join the lease last year. I've mushroom hunted thie particular tract and can say it is not what one would deem a deer attractant. Granted there is other property involved but this one is nothing more than an old overgrown railroad between a couple ag fields. Maybe 100-200yds wide.

Almost joined just for the mushroom option, but declined.

On a side note, while addressing you. I offer an apology for the bickering a week or so ago, just hate the topic as it comes up every year with the same result.

I just don't get it, seems like either lack of respect for the buck shot, or lack of self esteem by the hunter. It is like a bald guy with a hairpiece he feels better about how he looks except everybody else knows it is a hairpiece. Still a beautiful buck, the guy should be proud.
