Brother killed this small buck for jerky.

 

Does he cut the whole thing up in to jerky?

 

I'm gonna go get me a turkey sammich, Dr. Pepper and a red Bull then come back in a little while. I figured they would be moving around lunch since I didn't need a light to get to my stand. Guess I was wrong...

 

Shoulders, back legs, and backstraps...there are some that won't make the jerky grade and will be ground

 

Had a great morning hunt, but my big 8 was a no show. Having dinner with the neighbors tonight then back at it in the morning.

 

Getting ready to head over to the in-laws.
Wind is perfect!
Been fighting the install of a water softener all morning.

 

All set up 3 sits till gun season here in Ohio got to try and get it done
Just stopped raining after raining for almost 24 hrs

Finally setting down.
Had to remove 1/8" of ice from the platform of the LW.
Glad I'm tied off to this tree. Shoulda brought a spare pad for the seat. I'm thinkin' my butt is going to be wet.

 

Yep, going to spend the evening standing up.
The part of the seat that appeared to be dry was frozen. After seeing there for a few minutes I tried to stand up. I was stuck to the seat. ARG!

 

Can't flip it?

Well I've had a lot of really good hunts this year, very few mistakes all season long. This evening has not been my best effort.

Bumped a doe that was 200 yrds away within a minute of stepping in the woods. Don't know if she saw me or what, hard to hear me with the leaves matted down due to rain.

We've had rain for 2 straight days, I still thought I'd be able to walk the creek to the stand I wanted to hunt. Water was murky so tough to judge depth and within 20 yards my boots were full of water. Not good.

Luckily my buddy who owns this property is a hunter so I backed out put a new pair of boots and socks on.

Then I headed to about the last stand on earth I wanted to hunt tonight because it was close and at this point the most easy one to access. Bumped 6 Toms of the field the stand sits on.

I don't have a seat for this Lone Wolfe stand as we keep the seats in the truck so they don't get torn up and out of the elements.

But here I am, perhaps the greatest place on earth and the only place I want to be - in a tree stand! Just have to execute better than what I did today, awful.

 

You guys are killing me! Where's my cold weather? Hit 65 again here today.

Perfect night to be in the new treestand, got it set up for gun season and figured I might as well sit in it tonight. Was half way up the ladder and 2 does came sprinting past. Finally some cold weather here, should see some more tonight. Good luck to everyone else out tonight.
