Thanks I appreciate it and congrats BackStapin on the buck, way to go!! My team can attest to the quality and size of this 12 point split G2 buck - he is fantastic, a buck of a lifetime. I beat him today - knew what time he would move (too late) and knew the direction North to South (had a NE wind, perfect). Was literally standing, bow in hand and release ready to go facing the direction he came from. This is as good of Indiana buck as you will see and I was owning him until he veered his path or the path he's been known to take.
Permanent set? Sounds like you may only be a small shift away. Only going to get tougher as his thinking sways from his brain. Good luck, and hopefully youcan make it happen
Negative, it is a hang-on it could easily be moved to a different tree I am just afraid I would have to do too much trimming in this area and it might do more harm than good. Immediatly to my North is a lot of thick honey suckle and they just use it as cover for movement more than anything. If I were to hang the set again I would have hung it a bit further up the hill to the north indeed. First year on this particular property and for a first year stand it was a pretty damn good guess - we had some trail camera photos that said this was a dynamite area but we couldn't have guessed that the quality of bucks we have been seeing would use it with as much frequency as they have. Few views looking down to my west where I needed him to go - the heart was pounding through my chest. Basically the same photo just looking a little further north west He stood broadside at the bottom of the hill at the cattails but it was too dark and I couldn't even see yardage through range finder. It was still legal shooting light but gets dark quick in the timber pines, if you've hunted them you know!!
Well just got all strapped in and bunkers down for this evening great deer sign all over hunting my favorite spot which is a great stream crossing point to the fields... well see what luck it brings me today... goodluck to all who are out!
West wind is opposite of what I want for my stand, but I'm going out anyways. I'll just find a natural ground blind to hunker behind with the wind in my face. I gotta hunt when I'm not farming and it is ok'd by my wife. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
