You need to get some merino wool base layers and maybe some compression cold gear and multiple layers I personally wear compression heat gear then either cold gear compression or merino wool base overtop Then when it's really cold I'll break out the Under Armour 5.0 base layers https://www.underarmour.com/en-us/mens-ua-base-scent-control-extreme-long-sleeve/pid1259135-002 It's expensive but it's worth it IMO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The merino wool base layers from FirstLite blow UA away in my opinion. Very expensive but worth every penny.
You might not need new boots. If you're wearing more than one pair of socks, try just wearing one thick pair and make sure your boots aren't laced too tightly (and your socks don't fit too tightly). Restricting blood flow will make your feet cold no matter what boots you have on.
Make sure that they're not so thick that they make your boots fit really tightly. Another thing to keep in mind.
Same...nothing moving and only heard 3 shots all morning...craziest opener ever Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Also, after the season (November 30 onward) there are always a lot of good deals on hunting clothing and you can pick up baselayers, new boots, new socks and everything else for a fraction of what they're going for right now. Usually there's a couple of threads on this forum where people post the deals they find, so keep an eye out for those if you're still in the market come December.
Just had a yote pop over a log at 20 yards right in front of me...grabbed my gun quick but he took off...damn Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
15 degrees with a 5mph wind... Feels like 5 degrees. I'll be out this afternoon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
3 deer came through before light. 2 have also blown at me from the other side of this island of pine/thicket. Just moved to the other side of the thicket...bring it you dang doe so I can put you in the freezer
When really cold and/or windy I wear UA treestand. Does a real good job of cutting the wind and wicking moisture away. Definitely wear wool socks.
Sun is finally out now. I waited until the strongest gusts let up before I got in the tree. Nothing so far.
It's quiet here for our bear opener. I'm inside, though :/ Didn't buy a tag thinking we would have newborn at the house at the time.
Cls' rants and moving worked for him...thought I'd give it a go. :joke: This is a fascinating spot that I've never sat at but the circumstances except for the wind not doing what it is supposed to do, were just about perfect...
