We need the rain but we don't need a flood.

OK.. So I have a story for you guys!

Let me start by saying that either the deer gods hate me or I did something really bad in a past life!

So I decided to get down before the heavy rain and I start heading home. Im driving along and just up the road from where I hunt and I see this big a** buck running towards the road... he seen me and turned and went back the way he came and over a hill. I pull off the side of the road slam it in park and grab my binocs and take off running out in the field just hoping to catch a glimpse of him and see if its one of the bucks I have been after. I get to the top of the hill and dont see him so I run over to the fence that is partly covered in really thin fence row and part over grown in honey suckle and look out across the cow pasture on that side of the fence.... well here come the buck now running down the other side of the fence and heading my way! As he runs past me I stop him... he is now standing on the other side of the fence from me broadside at 20 yards and Im standing there with binocs in my hand! OMG! He stands there for 15-20 seconds looking around and never seen me. What I would give to do it all over again and grab my bow and leave the binocs behind. It would have been all legal too... I was far enough from the road and know both the people that own the land (the land I was standing on and the land on the other side of the fence where he was). I suck at guessing scores on deer but this was a huge perfect 10 point.. my guess is min 160" deer! Now that would have been a cool story when people walk in and seen his mount! :bigcry:

Ha that's crazy Pitman, sounds like something that would happen to me.

For all those playing along at home, hanging a stand in the rain is not awesome

That looks so much like the stand I hunt a lot. You're not about 60 miles east and in a walnut tree are you?

You'll kill him from that stand

You're legal as long as you have permission and do not shoot across the road or while standing on the road.

I'm like jrk on this one. That is exactly what would've happened to me. I'd be standing there with bino's in one hand just hoping that the bow would be in the other. I could see myself in the story for sure.

I got in quiet and have the wind I need for the bucks to come into this bedding area. It's 65 degrees. Leaves are crunchy as heck so I hope I hear them coming as I am real tight to a little funnel.

Heading out here shortly going to brave the gusty winds and see what happens tonight before this cold front moves through kicking up some severe storms!!! Not use to storms in November here in Kansas usually it's snow storms to worry about!!!
