    My firearm season may have just got a tad bit interesting. Next door neighbir to my brother said he'd make a call, might hit Calhoun County if permits still available.

    Said bucks are running crazy there and there's a crap ton of them on this property. Has to call and get the OK

    Buck follows buck lure all the way to my stand but stopped 2 steps short of my shooting lane, turned and went the other way, squeezed a shot and hit a branch. This sucks.

    ALMOST! My 11 year old Dayne and I just got in. We had a great encounter with a 120-130" 8 tonight on the ground. About 1/2 before dark we stalked around to the downwind side of a bedding area looking for a doe, we found her. She was 20 yds out but behind some briars and tall grass. I set up the sticks and had Dayne looking through the scope waiting for her to step out when I saw him. He appeared in a hole in the brush that I was expecting her to walk through. I whispered to Dayne "buck" and when he picked his head up the buck saw us and didn't like it. Both of them took to the field and gone. Great evening in the woods! Can't wait to get them back out there in the morning.
