I got a doe to my left and a doe to the right.

You know damn well a buck bred both last night

I'm late to the stand and the wife is *****ing
Can't get out of bed because the wind is blowing
Your camo is soaking and you look like hell
Half alive or half dead we just can't tell.

I'm back in a tree. Made my way to opposite side of property. Brought my saw with me to trim a few limbs for next weekend.

As I get to within 20 yds of the stand I see a deer standing 12 yds away facing away. I crouch down and get ready for a shot if presented ahen movement ahead of it catches my eye. A small buck is standing there and must have seen me.

Thinking the other is a doe I focus on her and wait for the shot. At that point they both take a few leaps behind some shrubs. Now I see they are both bucks, year and a half forkies. Pretty much decide with gun season next weekend I'm not going to burn my last buck tag when movement across the drainage ditch takes my focus. 2 1/2 year old basket takes off directly under my ambush stand outside the bedding area. They then all 3 took off, one or two of them snorting.

They weren't downwind of bedding so either they followed a got doe, were getting ready to go into the bedding area or they were all feeding on acorns.

Either way, I got out of there and climbed back in a tree. Maybe they'll push something, the does heard the snorting and will relocate or they're on their feet today with the wind dying off.

You guys ever hit a deer and not hear it hit? I looked and looked for my arrow and kinda looked for blood.. couldnt find either. My guess is the arrow is under the grass in the field.. I will go back this eve and look for my lighted nock.

Just spent a half hour hiking into a spot I thought would be great only to be disappointed.

Continued walking and now I'm just wondering around. Scouting more so than hunting.

I just got done moving a set! Started at 10:48 and walked away from new tree complete with shooting lanes at 12:01. These are 20 foot Game winner ladder sticks and game winner hang-on. Now let's see if it pans out!

Crud, I didn't even realize today was Friday the 13th!

I would have sat all day had I known that. Well, maybe for Saturday the 14th instead.

Haven't seen that movie in over 25 years.
