Just saw the first shooter I have seen from the stand this year. He looked to be 130s. Unfortunately when I tried calling to him he headed off in the opposite direction. He was a good sized buck to be up on his feet at this time of day though.

What a f'd up morning. Got in early and was setup well before sunrise. I had a NW wind and after a very quiet sunrise at 8am I heard a noise over my right shoulder and downwind of me at 15 yards is a great 150" buck. He is directly downwind of me and on high alert. As I turn he is focused right on me. He puts his head down for a second and gave me a chance to grab my bow. As I start to turn my body I reach for my release hanging on my d-loop and it falls off bangs off the metal stand and down to the ground. I have grabbed that release thousands of times and this was the first time I ever dropped it. Needless to say he was gone in a flash. Got down and searched everywhere and can not find the release. I am feeling so sick to my stomach right now. Guess I need to get over it and go shopping for a new release. This sucks!

Just saw a small 8. I think it's starting to happen. That's three different bucks this morning.

Dude that sucks. That's the only downfall imo to a handheld release, but I've never had that happen. I'd be puking!

Been sitting here now playing it over and over in my head and all I can think of is because I was wearing heavy gloves this morning the grip on the release isn't the same as usual and that caused me to not grab it correctly. This is going to haunt me for quite some time I am sure.

So I hear this long and deep grunting just to my north in some thick stuff. I grunt back and hear it again. I rattled and used my can and I can hear whatever it is coming my way. I just know it's Mr big. Out steps the biggest 5 point I've ever seen. He looks around a little bit for what he thinks he heard and then moves off. Huge bodied deer. It's been a pretty good morning. I just wish I could have gotten the bigger one I seen earlier to come a little closer. Was thinking of getting down for lunch but now I'm not sure. May sit here all day.

I have been blind calling, no real response. Going to a spot I havent been to since last week, bringing the decoy, and some estrus to see if i can get them to come out of the timber and into the cut field I am hunting. Should be all set in about 2 hours.

Good luck to all of you!
